The Gray Wolf Throne, third book in the Seven Realms series is absolutely addictive. These books just keep getting better and better. They are, in fact, a never-ending crescendo of emotion and adventure that makes me wish they were, at least, ten more books of Han, Raisa and company to come. After the events in The Exiled Queen, our characters got separated while the kingdoms of Arden and Tamron collided with each other. The Gray Wolf Throne takes place around a month after such events. Raisa is in Fetters Ford waiting in case Amon or someone goes looking for her to go back home. Han is on his way Nord to do his part of the Bargain (while also looking for Rebecca/Raisa in every town he passes by) and Amon is trapped in Tamron after been looking for Raisa. This is how things are at the beginning of the book until Captain Edon Byrne (Amon's father) comes looking for Raisa to fetch her home. Here is where everything turns into a heavy knot in your stomach. Raisa, Byrne and the guards go East to Marisa Pines but not without some difficulties, troubles, dangers and sacrifices. During all this time, watching Raisa trying to make it into Marisa Pines, I was sweating ice while the knot in my stomach got heavier and heavier. If in The Exiled Queen you were afraid of Raisa being discovered, In The Gray Wolf Throne fear and danger is like the air we breath. It is everywhere and it is inevitable. Raisa can only trust in very, very few people. While the council (is it really the council? attention people, this books open doors to other possibilities!) is trying its hardest to get Raisa out of their way. I would like to say so many things about this book, about Han, about Amon, about Raisa, about greed and politics, about ethnic and cultural differences, about growing up at an early age, about giving up your own happiness for the greater good. There is so much in Chima's books that a reader can learn from it. It is not only the suspense, the romance, the fun or the adventure. Chima's world is rich and complex and the characters are real. They really have to be real because I love them way too much for them to be fictional. There is still one book left in The Seven Realms series and I am afraid for that moment to come because it will be the end of some of the best fantasy series I have ever read!! But regardless my fear, I'm excited and I'm longing to have in my hands, the final epic conclusion of the Seven Realms!
