I think that I read the first of this series in 1994 when it came
out. At once I was enchanted by the whimsical mystery. For months
afterward my sketchbooks were filled with Bantock inspired pen
& ink creatures and layered collages.
I eagerly participated in their relationship by opening each
artfully made envelope and withdrawing the detail laden letters. To
hold the physicality of their letters helped to manifest their
reality in my mind. I began to yearn for mail of my own.
