From Our Editors

Three award-winning, young readers' books make their way into this impressive trilogy by Kit Pearson. The thread that weaves its way through the three stories is Norah Stoakes, a young English girl who is sent by her parents to Canada, along with her younger brother, during the Second World War. After five years pass, Norah is comfortable with her new life and country, but now the war is ending and her brother Gavin is reluctant to return to England to parents he can barely remember. The Sky is Falling, Looking at the Moon and The Lights Go On Again are beautifully crafted stories that make up The Guests of War Trilogy.

A beautiful story about children who are sent away to Canada, for safety during the war. As "Guests of War", the children must cope with being away from their families, being with people they have never met before, and adjusting to new customs. Each book tells the story of the two children as they grow, the new challenges they face, and hearbreaking events over their lives. I… read more
