by Jeaniene Frost

HARPERCOLLINS PUBLISHERS | October 11, 2007 | Mass Market Paperbound

Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father-the one responsible for ruining her mother''s life. Then she''s captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unholy partnership.

In exchange for finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She''s amazed she doesn''t end up as his dinner-are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn''t have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her newfound status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side . . . and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

    OK start to a series

Bones and Cat seem to be on the blogs so I figured I should take the plunge and check the Night Huntress world out for myself. As a series start it had it's moments. I loved the Cat/Bones interaction and can see the attraction. Cat's desire to kill to please her mother and her mother's lack of acceptance bothered me a little but since that was such a small part of the story I could overlook it. It had the potential to have a much bigger emotional impact but I wasn't invested in the character's enough yet. It was a good start and I have continued on to book two.

I read a lot, and this book not only lived up to expectations, it exceeded them by far. Funny, sexy, great action, suspense, it really has it all. I am so looking forward to reading the next 2 in the series.

This book was fantastic. It really had it all. Cat and Bones are amazing characters, Frost wrote them perfectly. I loved the action and the romance and the wonderful sense of humour and sarcasm. It's great how many choices we have as readers now-a-days that feature such strong leading women. Can't wait to read Book 2! Glad I started in this series late and don't have to wait.

    more than a romance

I've read many great reviews of this series on multiple blogs and I finally decided to give it a go. I was surprised how much I liked it. I often find paranormal romance books somewhat repetitive or predictable. Jeaniene Frost is in the romance section but this book is much more than just a romance novel. This is one of those books where if you enjoy romance the love story is a great bonus, but if you took away the romance and made Cat and Bones just friends it would still be a great read.
I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
