I think Lolly Winston is a wonderful writer. She has a quick-wit about her that makes even the most depressing scenes light and funny. This is especially true for "Happiness Sold Separately". Elinor Mackie is a woman whose life is crumbling around her. Her husband, Ted has cheated on her with a health-crazed younger woman, and on top of that, she's got a dose of "unexplained infertility". This novel keeps you glued in because you want Ted and Elinor to get back together, but at the same time, it's bittersweet, because he is still involved with his lover. "Happiness..." is omniscient, not only giving you the reasoning behind Elinor's actions, but also that of Ted, his mistress, and even Elinor's maid. I would recommend this novel for anyone.
