Another series by Rick Riordan means another great adventure. The novel being the continuous series from the first brang up a lot of questions in my head. He made this new beggining of the series very interesting because this novel was just so epic.

So at the time I read this book, I hadn't yet read the Percy Jackson series by the same author. I own all five books in that series, but I stopped reading them after the first one. I can't really say why. I picked up this book on the sole strength of how much I love the books in the Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan. Can I just say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book? I can't really say that this book is better than the original Percy Jackson series as I haven't read them yet, but in my opinion, this book can hold it's own. I could not stop giggling when I read this book. The humor in this book, just as it was in the Kane Chronicles, just didn't stop. I am not really sure what it is about the Satyr's that makes them so funny, but it just works. Give that satyr a bit of a complex and a megaphone and the hilarity just doesn't stop. One thing I did appreciate about this book was not only the introduction of new characters, but the fact that each chapter or two was told from a different viewpoint. I find that with these stories, getting the different view points works very well as each character has their own part to play in the story. The best part of this book and in fact this series, is that not only does it get kids excited to read, but it teaches them quite a lot about mythology and in terms that they can understand.

It's been a year since Percy Jackson and his friends defeated Kronos from rising. If you thought our heroes were about to get a break - boy were you wrong. A new prophecy has been given out. Jason and his two friends Piper and Leo must go out and save Hera from the very earth's clutches. But there is a small problem - Jason can't recall anything from his past. The Lost Hero opens with an extremely intense and fast-paced scene that easily had me devouring page after page of Riordan's novel. The Lost Hero had the perfect pacing, prefect amount of mystery, and three amazing main characters that fit together like puzzle pieces. I really enjoyed how Riordan managed to blend the myths so easily into the present day era. It seemed almost natural, and not for the first time I'm wishing that I was a demigod myself. Unlike Riordan's first series, which you could tell were childish at times, I never found a moment where this book belonged in the kids section. His beautiful first novel in the Heroes of Olympus series definitely deserves a spot in the teen section of the book store. Overall, I loved this book just as much as the first time I read it (I read this book a few months back, can't believe it took me this long to write a review!), and I can't wait to dive into the second novel, Son of Neptune!

The Lost Hero introduced some fun new characters, namely Jason, a Roman transplant to Camp Half-Blood who can't remember anything from his past; Piper, whose father has been kidnapped and to save him, she must betray her friends; and Leo who has a way with tools and fire (Leo was by far my son's favourite because of his quirky humour). The mystery surrounding Jason was really fun. I love the Roman elements and having them play off of the Greek elements of the book. There were also some great twists and turns that kept me and my son on the edge of our seats. The book is also full of action - fighting, adventures, dragons, evil monsters, and inuendo of even worse things to come... The story is told from all three characters points of view. Each character took turns for 2 chapters at a time. This was good because it really allowed us to get into the heads of the different characters. I also think this widens the appeal to both boys and girls because there are more chances of relating to a character. If you've read the Percy Jackson series, you will enjoy revisiting Camp Half-Blood and some of the characters from that series. I love the set up of how the new characters will eventually intermingle with the original characters, but at the same time, this is a whole new adventure.

The first time I picked this book up was in wall-mart, and quite frankly I wasn't too enthusiastic about this series, because after reading several hundred pages of team Percy I didn't want to start a series without them, so I put it back . After a couple weeks I decided why not aye I loved the previous series why not give this one a shot, and I am glad I did, Riordan but his best foot forward in this series, I was worried I wouldnt get my dose of badassness in this series because Percy wasn't their but believe me Jason does a great job of that, and Leo does a perfect comedic release, but in this series unlike grover, leo actualy does something usefull other then be walking recycling machine, I'm just kidding grover We all love yah, Inthis they give the old previous team an outlook closer to legendary hereos, and make anabeth look alot smarter and Leader-like if I may. Overall I enjoyed this series

This book is one of the, if not the best I have read. It is for almost all ages, probably 11-17, although only some for 16 and 17. It is the perfect book for 12-15 though, it mixes greek mythology and typical activities between families today. Rick Riodan puts in just enough romance to satisfy those who like a bit of romance, but for those who dislike it,(like me) it is pretty unnoticeable. There is a lot of humour in the book and like others have said, you won't be able to put the book down.

New series; new beginnings. Still the same action-packed scenes we all love to read! I love the new heroes and how Percy and Annabeth will still be involved with the story.

This book was amazing! I was glad he started the new series but that doesn't mean I hated the other series..... Anyway if you haven't read this your missing out on a whole lot of adventure!

Love the metal Dragon! The new perspective from other campers is a great touch to this new/continuing series. The book was a great read readers of all ages!

yes i liked the book but, i was heartsick for Percy I had totally fallen in love with him , and was disappointed about how little he showed up, every time they would mention his name i would get so excited. But the whole book he didn't show up. In the first series Rick Riordan got to believe Percy was the brave one just about the best hero the camp had and in the second all off sudden Jason is the heroic one he swings in and , i don't know i fell in love with percy instantly i loved his humour his personality he was somebody i could relate to and be like wow i know how he feels and it had me thinking "man i want to be a half blood" i missed him so much throughout the whole book, i wished they had spoke of him more. I miss Annabeth personally i liked her attitude and how she wasn't completely in love with percy right away , she had mix emotions it made reading interesting , making you wonder what would happen next, you didn't know if she would hit him of hug him when survived a near death experience, i miss grover and his cowardly ways, and how he was the one the kept them all together a different personality , he was the perfect best friend. The mix of personalities and demi gods, was what i liked son of Poseidon and athena, two of my favourite gods, and goddesses they were a good combination and I felt like I could relate to either of them , because i loved the water i wanted percy's powers and with Annabeth I felt like her wisdom, was something i could relate to at times, i've never been able to get someone to give me a car let alone extra allowance money, or iv e never been able to easily make a trinkets easily, i felt like i felt like jason was a mix of Thalia and percy but something else to , to me he was serious and was as funny, i dint fall in love with his character , his description was very much like luke's to me i wanted percy's black hair and green eye I guess i just want my old characters back i wish he had continued the percy jackson and olympians series, All in All it makes me desperately miss percy and now im going to go read that series,
