This product is a book. It is mysterious, funny and adventurous but it also has some romantic parts. It also has some sads parts. This is my favorite book from the series of the Heroes of Olympus right now. It has lots of action and cool parts in this book. There are a lot of killing and dying in this book but it is awesome. But totally SERIOUSLY BUY IT!!

When I read the first book in this series, "The Lost Hero" I was so excited that Rick Riordan brought back the characters that I fell in love with in the original "Percy Jackson" series. When it came to the time that "The Son of Neptune" came out, I was so excited that I had a copy of it in my hands the very day it came out and was done reading it the next day. I couldn't help myself. So of course when I reached the ending and found out how cliff hanger like it was I was kicking myself for finishing it so early because, well now I have to wait until October 2nd for "The Mark of Athena" to be released.

I have read other books in this series, and after reading this one, I saw that it was awesome! It is about three demigods named Percy Jackson (returning from previous series by Rick Riordan and a son of Poseidon/Neptune), Frank Zhang, and Hazel Levesque. Percy's memories have been stolen by the goddess Juno. Therefore, Percy does not remember anything about Camp Half-Blood. Instead, Juno has sent him to a Roman camp for demigods, known as Camp Jupiter, which is led by a praetor known as Reyna. Before long, Percy, along with Frank (who is a son of the god Mars) and Hazel (who is a daughter of Pluto) is forced to go on a quest to save the camp from the giant Polybotes (Bane of Poseidon/Neptune) and his invading army, and to do that, the trio must go to Alaska, a.k.a. the Land Beyond the Gods, to save the camp's golden eagle, which has been stolen by the giant Alcyoneus (Bane of Pluto/Hades). This eagle has magical powers and is charged with the power of the gods. Both Hazel and Frank have hidden, powerful abilities that are revealed in the novel. Hazel comes from an entire different life, and Frank has some techniques that are so powerful, he doesn't figure them out until the end of the novel. What makes the quest to Alaska and the battle against Polybotes and his army even harder for the three demigods is the fact that Thanatos, the "keeper" of death, has been captured by Alcyoneus, so monsters reform more quickly. There are many other obstacles for these demigods to overcome. Will they make it to Alaska? Will they defeat Alcyoneus and recover the eagle? Will they save Thanatos in time? Will they even defeat Polybotes? You can find out by reading this book!

Frank's life depends on a burnt piece of wood, and Hazel is supposed to be dead. Both of these half-bloods have hidden powers. Hazel can summon valuable stones from the ground, and Frank has some techniques that you can figure out by reading the novel. What makes the quest even harder for the three demigods is the fact that Thanatos, the "keeper" of death, has been captured by Alcyoneus, so monsters reform more quickly. The trio meets many obstacles along the way. They must befriend the Amazons (female warriors) and their queen, Hylla, who is Reyna's sister. They obtain a horse named Arion, who is the fastest creature on land and sea, from the Amazons. Percy must risk his life in order to gamble with a future-seeing escapee from the underworld who is named Phineas using gorgon's blood. At the beginning of the novel, the trio defeats two gorgons, and what was left was two identical vials of gorgon's blood. Blood from the right arm of a gorgon cures any disease, while blood from a gorgon's left arm kills instantly. The trio had to face several man-eating, cannonball-throwing ogres called Laistrygonians, who wanted to eat Frank. Every once in a while, Hazel has a flashback about her old life (in the 1940's). These flashbacks finally stop when Hazel experiences a flashback with Frank. Frank, on the other hand, has a magical piece of firewood that can burst into flames when he wants it to. This wood is tied to Frank's life force, and he will die when the entire piece of wood burns away. Percy completely remembers everything near the end of the book, and Gaea expects to use Percy as a "pawn" to bring the downfall of the gods. This novel also has several riddles and confusing prophecies in it. Ella the harpy, who is saved from Phineas, recites part of a prophecy inside Frank's family mansion's attic during the battle against the Laistrygonians: "To the North, beyond the gods, lies the legion's crown, falling from ice, the son of Neptune shall drown." Later, Ella says: "Wisdom's daughter walks alone, the Mark of Athena burns through Rome." Finally, Frank releases Thanatos in Alaska, and the trio returns to Camp Jupiter after defeating Alcyoneus in Canada (Alcyoneus is invincible in his birthplace[he was reborn in Alaska]) and retrieving the eagle and a chariot load of Imperial gold weapons, which can kill monsters. After Thanatos had been released, the dead stayed dead and, with the power of the golden eagle, the camp defeated the monster army. Finally, Percy faced off against Polybotes, defeated, and became the second praetor of Camp Jupiter (everyone wanted him to). At the very end of the book, the Greek airship appears in the sky overhead, with some of Percy's friends from Camp Half-Blood, and a few new demigods who are part of the second Great Prophecy. I would strongly recommend this book to people who have read The Lost Hero, and to people who have read the Percy Jackson series.

I love the Percy Jackson series and like many others I was and am happy that its continued. I was more than happy to see the return of Percy. Not that I didn’t love the new characters of Piper, Leo, and Jason, but there is just something about Percy that feels like home. Percy is back and it seems better than ever. He’s just as selfless and powerful as ever, with just the right amount of corny jokes. I was also pretty excited about Camp Jupiter and there being a whole new other set of gods, stories, and demigods. Some of these characters are interesting does Octavian remind anyone of Luke? Kind of for me. The character of Frank was a pretty awesome one. His history and powers are pretty cool. When it came to the character of Hazel I didn’t find anything really special with regards to her character but, by the looks of the last chapter her story and the story of Leo/Sammy is yet to come so she will probably play a larger role in the next book. Also Percy without Annabeth and Grover....it just was a little sad....I miss them in this novel. I can’t wait for the next book where we see all the characters finally meet up and we get the whole story and whole adventure. It should be one good story....and I bet Jason and Percy start to butt heads I guess we will have to wait and see. And the only other thing that wasn’t necessarily bad but just a change I wasn’t impressed with was the amount of ‘romance’ going on between Frank and Hazel...not that there is anything wrong with it but it was just mentioned multiple times almost giving it a sort of overkill, and it’s just something very different from the Percy Jackson series where we barely saw any of it until the last novel. Overall Riordan has a great way of writing with not too much description but just the right amount and his adventure was eventful as ever leaving some prophecies hanging in the air making us want to know what they really mean or even what the ending to the burnt prophecy is. He introduces many great characters including good harpies and a pretty awesome horse that even I would love to have while sticking true to the old stories and only giving them a modern twist like the Amazons.

I like the flow of the story where we read from the different points of Percy, Hazel and Frank. I've seen the movie Percy Jackson and the Ligtning Thief and after watching and enjoying the movie I bought the first book. As always I loved the book more so than the movie, and ended up getting the entire box set. Now I believe the The Heroes of Olympus is a spin-off series of the Percy Jackson series so I don't know much about it. We follow Percy, son of Neptune, Frank son of Mars, and Hazel daughter of Pluto as they go on a quest to release Death from the clutches of evil Earth Goddess Gaea! If you don't know much about mythology then not to worry because Rick writes with extreme detail that is on par with J.K. Rowling herself. I find myself giggling reading some of the witty banter that Percy projects. It's that good! If you're a Harry Potter fan be sure to check this series out. Mythology, mystery, adventure and romance all in one epic read!

In The Son of Neptune, we are great-fully welcomed through the eyes of Percy as he treks his way towards Camp Jupiter, the camp that Jason originally came from. There, we meet the other two main characters, Hazel and Frank. Both with incredibly intoxicating pasts. Together, these three must set off to help set free Death himself. As far as team work goes, these three work great together. However, I can't say that they seemed to mesh together as well as Jason Piper and Leo did. I felt as if Percy was a little bit disconnected from the other two. Someone they kind of idolized on there quest, only somewhat befriending him. I also found Percy's character to be slightly off from the original Percy Jackson series. I'm not quite sure how to explain it, but he just seemed.... Different to me. Camp Jupiter was exactly the same way. The Romans camp is nothing like the Greeks, let me tell you. Divided up into Legions and Cohorts, it didn't make any sense to me at first, being used to Camp Half-Bloods rules and regulations. But after walking through its campus with Percy, I found myself grasping its concept and it's set up easily. The map at the front of the book definitely helped. One thing that really please me was a character that popped up from the Percy Jackson series! One that I was not expecting to see at all. It definately made me smile. :) Overall, a great follow up, but I found The Lost Hero to be slightly more entertaining then this book. I found the ending was slightly rushed, but I would definitely recommend this to ALL Rick Riodan fans! I loved it and I know you all will too. :)

What I love about this book is that with Percy back I can really get into the story again, Leo as a Character is great but for me the Series is about Percy and how he handles the situation. The story as always is easy to pull yourself into seeing what the characters say and learning with them. Tyson is back and still as heart warming as always. Percy and Ares your relationship has changed, Its weird reading him in his Roman form he really has changed...I wonder if they really can't think like there Greek forms of if that is just an act? This book does have the introduction to many new characters and does reference another of the Percy Jackson books (anyone remember Percy as a Guinea pig? Or the Prophecy from the other books?) If you loved the other Percy Jackson books than this one will not disappoint you It lives up to the other books. The Only flaw with reading this book fast ( I read this book the day it came out) Is that you have to wait another year to read the next book, As I have learned from waiting for other books this is a form of Torture.

Absolutely loved it. Got the book on kobo and had it finished in two days. This book has us rejoining Percy Jackson, who by this point has been missing for eight months, battling monsters that just will not stay dead for more than five minutes. He ends up finding his way to the Roman camp where he befriends a pair of misfit halfbloods named Hazel and Frank, as well as the Legion Praetor (leader) Reyna, who seems to know more about him than he knows about himself. The doors of death have been opened and Thanatos (Death) himself has been captured by Gaia's forces and it is up to Percy, Hazel, and Frank to set him free. But with the secrets that both are hiding, as well as the obvious benefits of nobody being able to die, do they really want to set him loose? I am absolutely dying to see where the series goes next. Twelve months is too long to wait for Mark of Athena

I just read this book over the weekend and I thought it was terrific! The Lost Hero was pretty good, and it involved camp half-blood, but now we get to see the other side with the roman camp. Its not quite the same as the olympian series, since Percy isn't with his old gang, but we do get to meet some new characters and enjoy some good old fashioned action and entertainment! I plan on re-reading The Lost Hero soon :) I can see how the next novel will be stellar! (And the plot lines will be awesome when they leave the USA). Overall a satisfying title (especially if paired with the Lost Hero).
