This is the first Juliana Stone book I have read. His Darkest Hunger is a shifter suspense story. The first 120 pages or so cover the back story for the book and in my opinion should have been edited down. I found there was a lot of repetition that just did not need to be there. It also caused confusing for the Libby/Jaxon relationship. First he hates her, then she hates him. I found them wishy washy. The suspense portions of the book were where Stone really excelled. When she got into the groove of the suspense plot I was riveted. The underlying story was good. Libby and Jaxon are on the hunt for the men that kidnapped and tortured her for three years. They also stole something much more important from Libby that may just destroy her. His Darkest Hunger had all the right elements and parts of the book are great, but wading through the rest made for slow going overall. The ending had a couple of really great twists to it that I did not see coming - which I loved - and it does end in a cliff hanger. I think Stone has great potential in the suspense genre and I will be giving His Darkest Embrace a try.

His Darkest Hunger is the first in Juliana Stone's new series and it doesn't disappoint.

Jaxon & Libby were part of a team of paranormal & human government agents, trying to keep the supernatural underwraps from the general population. Not only were they teammates, they were lovers. Libby wanted a commitment from Jaxon, but he didn't want to give her one as he is a shifter & when they mate, they mate for life. Libby requested a transfer from their unit & as a direct result one of the team members died.

For three years Jaxon has hunted for Libby, to get his revenge for the loss of that team mate, Diego. Little did he know, Libby had been kidnapped, tortured & held for those three years. There is a powerful spell around Libby's mind & she has no memories of her past, but knows there's something about Jaxon that makes her feel safe. Another team member, Declan is a dark mage but even he cannot unlock Libby's memories because it would kill her. Libby has to remember on her own & she's afraid she won't like those memories when they come back.

This is another one of those books you just can't put down for very long! From start to finish, there are all sorts of twists & turns. The ending is a huge cliff-hanger that left me wondering just what in the World is in store for them all next! There are so many surprises in His Darkest Hunger, I am tempted to spill them all out in a mad rush.

Juliana Stone's writing sucked me in from the first page & her romance scenes are hot hot hot! Jaxon is grace & sensuality, all rolled into a jaguar body. Grrr. Libby starts out frail, but you can feel the resolve & strength she has growing with each page. My only issue with His Darkest Hunger was the ending felt really abrupt, it just ended. I felt no closure, but I do know it's a series so there is more to come!
