From Our Editors

During the Second World War, Adolf Hitler's Nazis and their collaborators brutally and systematically murdered more than six million Jews, as well as other targeted groups such as Gypsies, homosexuals and the handicapped. The Holocaust Chronicle: A History in Words and Pictures is a startling archive, written and fact checked by top scholars, recounting the complex and anguishing horrors of the Holocaust. With a 3,000 item timeline that pinpoints the specific atrocities in individual acts of cruelty, compassion and, at times, heroism, this book recounts the most important years of the Holocaust and its immediate aftermath. More than 2,000 photographs bear a vivid and horrific witness to portraits of perpetrators and victims, documenting one of the worst cases of mass genocide in the history of the world.

From the Publisher

The Holocaust Chronicle, written and fact-checked by top scholars, recounts the long, complex, anguishing story of the most terrible crime of the 20th century. A massive, oversized hardcover of more than 750 pages, The Holocaust Chronicle: A History in Words and Pictures features more than 2000 photographs, many of which are in full color and most are published in book form for the first time. The 3000-item timeline of Holocaust-related events is unprecedented in its scope and ambition and detailed caption-text is rich with facts and human interest.

    A must read! 4

Full of text and photgraphs, it tells its haunting tale year by year, month by month and day by day. Fear, disbelief, revultion are just a few of the emotions experienced by the reader. Yet, by the end, we are left with a glimmer of hope for the future and an appreciation for the numerous people who contributed to publishing this work. We need to educate and never forget what happened. A must read.

    An Essential Book 5

This book brought the horrors of the Holocaust to life in a graphic (photos) and factual way. Every human being has a responsibility to educate themselves about the Holocaust, so this never happens again. One wonders how civilized people could ever commit such atrocities against another living being. The demonic devotion that people had in Hitler was terrifying. The deeds they committed in his name were horrific. A very thorough and painful examination of the… read more

This book presents a detailed history of history's greatest man-made catastrophy. As an educator, I consider its format, and pictoral display, amust for any school library.

Scared to read the truth 4

After a review of the book, the knowledge and curiosity of historical facts from that era, I was not too sure at first if this was a book I wanted to read. I agree with the other reviews 100%. Just hard to believe that this chunk of history really happened only 60 years ago. It numbed me to read quietly with disbelief blocking out everything around me.

This book will shock you. However hardened I thought I had become, I found this book deeply disturbing.
As a gentile, I don't spend much time thinking about the Holocaust - yet I was pulled in by this Chronicle. It was like a slap in the face, one I needed to receive. NEVER AGAIN !
