There is a lot to learn about blogging and it is difficult to write a complete guide to blogging so the title sets the expectations to be more than it could handle. However, this is an excellent read for:
- some basics
- some references to research more
- a history of the Huffington Post
- 30 pages of its most memorable posts among others throughout the book and
- a good big picture perspective on the role of blogs in society and media today, and at least the near future.
It was just a little lacking in the hands on department, on how to do some basic things to help accomplish the goals it promoted. A little like head towards there, start down this road, but beyond that, you're on your own. So if you're looking for some tech help, you're going to be rather disappointed. I suspect they avoided some of that specificity to avoid attaching themselves to some companies. The book does give a lot of leads to go on to improve your blog and blogging style and skills, but on the tech side, this is for the experienced blogger. For someone with a basic blog like me, there's a gap I still need to bridge which this book did not cover. Fortunately, I was more interested in the roles and potential of blogs, its value and implications, rather than tech. For that, definitely worth the read!
