The 2007-08 international hockey season was one of celebration for the IIHF as it marked the 100-year anniversary of its founding. To mark the centennial, the IIHF initiated several events during the course of this season, the most important of which was the Top 100 international hockey stories of all time. The list was counted down in reverse order over the year, culminating in a top-10 countdown during the 2008 World Championship, held in Canada for the first time (in Quebec City and Halifax). In addition, the IIHF named its all time all-star team, honoured the 22 exclusive members of the Triple Gold Club (players who have won Olympic and World Championship gold and the Stanley Cup), and held the inaugural Victoria Cup, the first time an NHL club team (New York Rangers) played the European champions (Mettalurg Magnitogork of Russia) in a one-game showdown. This book celebrates the 100 th anniversary of the IIHF and the great moments that marked this historic season.
