Dont judge a book by its writing format-thats the lesson I learned when reading this book. I thought it would be hard to follow and that the verses automaticly ment ryming poems which i wouldnt understand. It doesnt. Impluse is simply amazing. The character development and facts and secrets you learn throughout this book is astounding. This is my first Ellen Hopkins book, and I absolutly LOVED it!!!!!

Personally, the book (Impulse) is by far my favourite book I have ever had the pleasure of reading to this day. Ellen Hopkins creates an ideal environment that set the mood for the protagonist’s perfectly. Combined with the unique writing style of this book, it creates not only an excellent read but a feeling of deep involvement with the characters being portrayed. In this book there are no fairy tale endings, but there is hope. It doesn’t mean to entertain; but means to share a message, and that’s exactly what it does. An overall fast paced hypnotic read and learning experience, I highly recommend this book to all.

This book was intense, their are so many emotions throughout the book and I felt them all. I love Ellen Hopkins and her novels in verse I find it's different and refreshing to read. If you like Ellen Hopkins this is a definitely good read for you!

This was definitely a winner. I usually don't read books like this, I simply focus on fantasy. Some times when I realize I've gone to deep and need to surface, I move on to reality. This style was definitely new to me, it took a while for me to adjust but when I did I fully understood the story. I really enjoyed this piece and it actually kept me going. Too bad her books end to quickly, most books do to me now. Sigh, I should try reading slower. This was much better than Crank, but I still recommend reading it.

This was a really well written book. It was intense, and the characters seem so real, and i love the bond and friendships these three characters share. But the ending is so sad, and very shocking :(

What is an IMPULSE? and IMPULSE is a bad act hat one acts upon. And in this story by ellen hopkins Vanessa, Conner and Tonys IMPULSE acts all wind up in one place...aspen springs- A mental hospital. Vanessa Is a cutter and when she arrives at aspen springs she meets Tony, a pill addicted gay teenager. They soon become close friends and then the two meet Conner, s suicidel teen. During the story you read the story from each characters point of view every few pages and what they are thinking! Vanessa, Tony and Conner all become very close! Vanessa adapts feeling for both Conner and Tony but in the end picks one to love and to be with! The end of the story almost left me in tears and a warm fuzzy feeling in my tummy! :D But in the end the story IS NOT about drugs, cutting yourself, being addicted or a mental hospital with a bunch of crazy people! Its about excepting everyone for who you are and changing your ways! Also in the end, it seemed to be that Vanessa, Tony and Conner were all lonley and just needed a friend or to make their loves better! IMPULSE is my favourite book! READ IT...LOVE IT!

This was a great follow-up to Crank. I found it very raw and real, giving the reader a taste of what these kids were going through, and being there every step along the way. Wonderful writing style and a creative look inside the minds of depressed youth.

Really great book. So easy to read, I didn't want to put it down.

This book is so memorable, even now. The stories of the main characters stick with you and draw you in-it's one of those books that really makes you connect with the characters. The ending upset me, and it makes you wonder 'what if'. Great read.

Loved this novel, i devoured it in just under 2 hours. I still find myself thinking about the characters and things that could have changed their fates. i also always find myself reapeating the intro of the story to myself. This book will truly stay with oyu long after you have read it!
