Erica Peck has been terrified of the ocean and all that's in it since she was a child, a small problem seeing as how she runs her family's marina. On top of this paralyzing fear, Erica is unlucky in love. Her ex-fiancé forces her to get into the ocean at gun point to find his missing diamonds. When she doesn't move fast enough she is shot and left for dead.

Reel Tritone (second son of the ruler of the sea and the one in his family without a tail) comes to the rescue just as Erica is about to be eaten by a shark. Even though it's forbidden for Mers to have any contact with the humans, but there's something about Erica that makes Reel break every rule. He saves her by giving her the ability to breathe underwater. Something she might be grateful for if she wasn't for the fact that she is told that if she ever has contact with her world again then her life and Reel's life would be ended.

This story was filled with a lot of fun characters and some witty dialogue. I have the other 2 books in the series and look forward to reading them. Mostly because I want to see what Reel's brother Rod is like.

If you are looking for a light fantasy romance filled with beautiful imagery, then this is the book for you.
