I was skeptical at first of reading this book, and then I finally decided to pick it up and start it. I could not stop reading, I wanted to know what happend. I found the story was slow to develop but it is detailed so much, that you are able to create the settings in your head while reading. I got attached to the characters and I can't wait to read the second one, I hope it's even more action packed. If you want to read something different I recommend this book, it is very good and addicting. If you get bored easily if theirs not to much action then don't but if you can manage without it do it is worth it.

The world building and concept of the book was very interesting. It took me by surprise when I found out all is not what it seems Outside. However, it disappointed me as well. It never occurred to me that it was in a futuristic setting and that little surprise took me a while to get used to. I did like how Incarceron had different types of scenery and settings, literally it was a little world of its own. That was interesting and a fascinating read. The political intrigue within the Haavarna Court was interesting and fun to read. I liked how Claudia managed herself through all the mind games yet still managing to keep herself intact and alive. I really did enjoy reading about Claudia. She had the wits and the determination to keep going. Finn, I didn’t really enjoy reading so much. I’m not sure why, he just didn’t really grow on me as a character. Keiro on the other hand was a much more entertaining read even though he had flaws that made him look like a total complete jerk. He was more exciting to read about than Finn. Despite these well done characters, and the concept of the story was interesting and different, the story started off a little too slowly for me, and it got confusing at times. What frustrated me was, there were so many questions I had, only to find out after reading 448 pages, that none of the questions really were answered and you’re back to square one. So not only was the book dry, you’re left with a wide open ending. Although the pace did pick up in the last half of the book, this could have definitely been a better read. I’m really not sure why it took so long for the plot to move forward, but those that want a quick story won’t find it here. Am I going to read the sequel? yes. I did not read 448 pages for nothing. Call me stubborn, but despite slow movement of the plot in the book I still want to know what happens. If it weren’t for such well written characters I probably would not have continued reading this book until the end. However, I do encourage those that want something different to read to pick this up. It’s most certainly something I haven’t read before.

I really liked Incarceron, it wasn't as interesting as some of her other works but it was still an intriguing world that she created.

I have to admit, this was initially a book that I never bothered to even lift off the shelf, but when a friend gave me her copy and told me I HAD to read it, I figured I would give it a go. I am so glad that I did! This book is amazing! I love the plot, the setting, the characters... seemingly everything about this book. Definitely one I would recommend to fans of books like "The Maze Runner" and "The Hunger Games". The othe reviewers have given fantastic summaries of the plot so I won't bother with doing so again. However, I do have to add that is a sort of high-fantasy, science fiction hybrid (yes, I know that sounds contradictory but just trust me on this one) and won't really appeal to hardcore fans of either but will definitely have mass appeal to teen readers and older fans of science fiction in general.

This was a hardcore fantasy book. The adventure was brilliant, the plot was extremely creative and the characters were great. The description of the book is one thing, but the actual plot turns out to be so much more--it blows your mind. This story was magical, captivating, creative, and unique. You feel the prisoners curiosity, and you feel the girl's heartache. One character we follow is Finn. He is a seventeen year old prisoner, and he cannot remember a thing about his childhood. He has moments where he remembers fragments of his past, but they are blurry and confusing. He truly believes that he is from the Outside. Escape is the only thing on his mind, he wants to be free of this prison, Incarceron, but there is only a myth of one man who ever escaped. Finn doesn't give up, and when he finds something that could free him of this terrible world...it speaks, he hears a girl talking... Claudia lives in the "Outside", her father is the Warden of Incarceron. Her and her father don't have the greatest relationship, and she doesn't even know if he loves her or not. Now, she is doomed to an arranged marriage to Casper, the brother of her former betrothed, Giles. He was kind, smart, and had the perfect qualities for a King. His brother, Casper, would not make a good king; he is selfish, rude, and ungrateful. Claudia wishes that she didn't have to marry him, and she can't help to wonder what really happened to Giles. She becomes curious and enters her Father's study, and what she finds speaks to her...she hears a boy's voice... The adventure picks up the pace, Finn does everything to escape with his oath brother and friends. While, Claudia discovers secrets and digs up the truth... This was a great book that I really enjoyed. The plot was great, and as you kept reading it was if you were watching the whole thing, it was that brilliantly written. The twists and turns kept you captivated, and dieing to know what happened next. The ending left me very anxious to find out what happens next...so I'm crossing my fingers for a sequel!!! 2010-013

This was a page turner with lots of action. Incareron is a crazy imaginative world that is written so well - that you'll feel like you are right there. There are two worlds. One inside Incarceron where prisoners are kept barely alive and one outside which involves castles and royalty. Both Claudia and Finn are trapped. She's the Warden's pampered daughter, and is about to be married off to a disturbing prince. He is an amnesiac prisoner, plagued by seizures that give him visions. This is a story about how they both try to escape.
