Industrial Magic

by Kelley Armstrong

Random House of Canada | March 27, 2007 | Mass Market Paperbound

Meet the smart, sexy - supernatural - women of the otherworld. This is not your mother's coven...

Kelley Armstrong returns with the eagerly awaited follow-up to Dime Store Magic. Paige Winterbourne, a headstrong young woman haunted by a dark legacy, is now put to the ultimate test as she fights to save innocents from the most insidious evil of all.. . .

In the aftermath of her mother's murder, Paige broke with the elite, ultraconservative American Coven of Witches. Now her goal is to start a new Coven for a new generation. But while Paige pitches her vision to uptight thirty-something witches in business suits, a more urgent matter commands her attention.

Someone is murdering the teenage offspring of the underworld's most influential Cabals - a circle of families that makes the mob look like amateurs. And none is more powerful than the Cortez Cabal, a faction Paige is intimately acquainted with. Lucas Cortez, the rebel son and unwilling heir, is none other than her boyfriend. But love isn't blind, and Paige has her eyes wide open as she is drawn into a hunt for an unnatural-born killer. Pitted against shamans, demons, and goons, it's a battle chilling enough to make a wild young woman grow up in a hurry. If she gets the chance.

    Much Better

I really enjoyed this book more then "Dime Store Magic". I found this story more of a page turner. I also loved the fact that almost all of her leading Ladies lend a hand and help save the day. I love Armstrong's look on Vampires, and what is on the other side. Can't wait to pick up the next book.

This is the story of Paige Winterbourne that was the main character in Dime Store Magic. Her and her boyfriend, Lucas Cortez try and help the Cabel (kinda like the supernatural mob world) which includes Lucas' father Benicio find a killer attacking children of the Cabel.

Lucas has always tried to avoid contact with his father and the Cabel even though he is considered the Benicio's official heir but to help find this killer, he and Paige use the resources of the powerful Cabel to track down the killer.

I love have Paige has changed turning this series of books. She's become such a strong character and not afraid to stand up for what she thinks is right. The relationship between her and Lucas is wonderful and you really hope they find a way to stick together despite the odds against them. What I even like more, is that the author brings character's from previous books into each series. In Industrial Magic, Paige's werewolf friends Elena, Johnathan and my favorite Clayton come to assist in this fight. Clayton is the ultimate character....

Another great addition to the Women of the Otherworld series.

As usual, Kelley Armstrong's novel is full of original ideas and points of views. She created a world of supernatural beings and made it her own. What I enjoyed most in this story was her original ideas vs the vampires, the after-life, the half demons and so forth. I very much enjoyed the read.
My only criticism of her book is that she makes me lose my interest at times taking to long to get to the plot and introducing too many plot lines in the book. That being said, it was good enough for me to have bought the next two books in her series.

    Great author, great exciting story.
