I thought it wasn't as good as the first book but it still was jam-packed with secrets, and surprises. The plot was good and the speed was also good. I thought the ending however was amazing. It was a total surprise and totally a cliff-hanger. I really can't wait to read the next one.

I know so many people have plaused Roth for her great work on the divengent series but still, I can`t help writting this short review to express my love of this book! It`s really really good, the charcters, the writting stills and omg the plotting, everything works in a harmony! I recommand anyone how haven`t lay their hands on these books and are a huge fun of dystopian novels run to the book store and get them!

Picking up where Divergent left off; the Factions are in varying states of chaos as the Erudite plan to wipe Abnegation off the map with mind controlled Dauntless was thwarted by Tris and her uncanny Divergent brain...But what seemed like a great victory came at a terrible personal cost to Tris and with the leaders of each nation shaken to the core - everyone has to choose their side as secrets fester and unlikely alliances are formed and an epic battle looms on the horizon. I'm loving that the covers are following a similar Faction symbol theme, I'll be sorely disappointed if 'they' decide to change the covers midway through this series. At the end of Divergent Tris grows up fast, and in a blink of an eye she loses her parents, takes the life of a friend and is left running on the lam. She's understandably shell shocked, post traumatically stressed and ridden with guilt. Her Dauntless side takes a bit of a backseat in Insurgent - that's not to say that there isn't any action, because there is. LOADS OF IT and in a much deadlier sense. But we get to explore other facets of Tris' potential, like her Erudite side. She's brilliant at seeing plots and the bigger political picture, but her trauma and guilt bogs her down and makes her act really reckless. Such as bringing a knife to a gun fight. But she ends up going down a really dark path, and I really hated how it seemed like for most of the book she was stuck in this place. However, Roth was brilliant at tearing Tris down to her foundations and at the tipping point Tris finds her reason to keep going. I still love Four. I'll forgive the secrets and ultimatums because he's scary awesome and a natural leader. Everyone looks up to him and he never wanted that role but this time he embraces it and it was amazing! He always has that one scene that burns into my mind (like aiming deadly objects at Tris in Divergent), Insurgent took it much further. It was still a brilliantly calculated move on Four's part, but it makes you step back and re-evaluate how you feel about Four. What I was really surprised at was the trust that Tris and Four had built up in Divergent, which I thought would be pretty much unshakable. But their relationship; though filled with some very steamy scenes gets a little lost along the way. It would be too easy to just have them have a happy ending in the middle of a broken world, but at the end of Insurgent I think they'll finally be that strong team I was looking for in the third installment of the Divergent series. At the end of Divergent we were treated to some incredible revelations about her mother but the secret motives behind the Erudite's plan was never fully revealed. So the big question to answer in Insurgent was the why of it all - and when we find out the answer. OH MY is it EVER a cliffhanger. Like drop your jaw - you'll probably throw the book across the room (but not really because that's mean) kind of cliffhanger. The conspiracy theory hamster in my brain is working overtime in its wheel! Roth took these characters and completely reshaped what I knew about them, and I LOVED it! We get a closer look at what it means to be Divergent, and what it means to sacrifice your life for something. It was a bit long at 525 pages, and I did forget who a few minor characters were (I felt like re-reading Divergent before starting this would've been beneficial) but the mysteries and political intrigue and the ingeniousness of it all was worth it! One thing: is it fall yet? Why can't it be fall yet?! I need to know what happens!

The second book in the Divergent series absolutely did not disappoint. The story picked up right where it left off, and was incredibly easy to immerse myself back into Tris' world. The hooks and drama were fantastic, while it was easy for me to predict what would happen next, I was still enthralled and completely excited by each page. A must-read if you enjoyed Divergent! I can't wait for the third book!

I loved Insurgent. it's as good as the first, if not better, and I feel that this whole series is amazing. I felt that all the characters, even the secondary characters, were really real and relatable, and I continued to appreciate the characters even more as I learned more about them in this book. I know that some people compare this series to The Hunger Games, which I hate because I find them both really different, and I have to admit that, as much as I love The Hunger Games, this series is better. I could picture every scene and connected with the characters. I loved the plot and the suprises that occured along the way. The writing is really strong and keeps readers intrIgued. I didn't read this as fast as I read Divergent, but I loved it as much. Although some parts are a bit predictable, 75% of the events are suprising, and Roth does an excellent job of keeping readers guessing and definitely did an amazing job of keeping my head in the book. I love Tris. I find that I see her as not just another character in a book, but a real person. That might sound weird, but It's how I personally see her. We see her develop and grow in this book, and she acts like a real person. For example, if she gets hurt or a wound, Roth will keep reminding her of that, and when, 5 days later, shes firing a gun with an arm that has a bullet wound in it, she'll feel the impact. But Roth doesn't do it often enough to make readers annoyed, just to make Tris seem real. Also, when she hasn't showered in weeks, she poins out how greasy her hair is. I really think that its the little things that I appreciate. The ending was amazing, although I'm mad because I have to wait to read more of Tris's story. I love the part her brother played, too. It really connected everything together. Make sure you have a clear reminder of Divergent when reading this book, because there are many refrences to he previous book. I loved Insurgent. And, although I respect other peoples views towards this series, I really can't understand why anyone would rate this anything less then 5/5 stars. No matter how hard I try, I just don't get it.

3.5 stars Insurgent seems to continue from exactly where Divergent left off, so for those of us who read Divergent a long time ago and don't really remember... not so good. There is no recap of any kind, so I spent the first ¼ of the book being really confused. I finally sort of figured out what was going on in this one, but it still bothers/ed me that there was no recap to remind me of what happened in Divergent. This is why I am not doing a synopsis with this review. Well, maybe I'll attempt this: everyone seems to be double-crossing everyone else, including some of the factionless. All the double-crossing made for lots going on in the book, and so I am rating it 3.5 (good), but I was still somewhat confused through a portion of the book. I bought the first two books, but won't be buying the third. This one ended on a cliffhanger, so I might still read the 3rd one, but it'll come from the library. I hope the author gives a bit of a recap in that one, as a reminder.

Without a doubt, a highly recommended read for fans of the Hunger Games!

I loved the Hunger Games, dont get me wrong but this had so much more to it. I love this book. Read it twice. I love the characters and their relationships. Four is just about as manly and dreamy as they come. I was hooked immediately. Its so sad that this series only has two books, I was sad to see it come to an end.

READ THIS SERIES. YOU WON'T REGRET I! I loved this book and divergent. They were both amazing! I can't wait until early fall 2013 when the third book comes out. The movie for divergent comes out march 21 2014. cant wait.

I loved this book! I happened upon the first book in the series, Divergent, and enjoyed it so bought the second one. Insurgent has a great concept - five "factions" of people, each with a different personality and purpose, trying to live together. It continues the story from book one. The reason I gave it 3 stars was simply because of the writing. I know it's a teen novel and should be looking at it that way. But I think the book could've been much better had someone else written it. It really is a great idea! I love the concept. The characters just aren't developed the way they could be and the writing isn't great. But again, it's a teen book so if you go into it knowing that, you won't be too underwhelmed. Perhaps because of the writing, I could see exactly what was coming at the end way before even the middle of the book. It was pretty apparent what was going to be revealed. So unfortunately there was no big surprise at the end, which is what I think she was going for here. All that said, I definitely recommend the series and I'll still read the third book when it's released!
