***UGH Painful***

I love long books. I love strange or even medieval settings in a book. But this was painful. Before reading the book flip to the acknowledgements in the book. There Mosse thanks her "patient" editor. I say her "patient and fully useless" editor. Aren't editors supposed to make suggestions to limit redundant sentence structure and description? At one point the author is describing the main character going down the hall to the spy on someone and every aspect of the hall is described but to no known effect or need. Get on with it! What is this Dickens, where you get paid for every additional word you can squeeze out? Terribly written.
great book

I read sepulchre first and I think it made me appreciate the plot of labyrinth more because the plots intertwine. I felt connected to the characters and really enjoy the way she works in the present day and the characters from the past. It is an interesting read and you have to pay attention to details while you read or else you might miss some important information. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading.
Disappointing

Don't believe the cover blurbs. Not worth the time. Long, drawn-out, disjointed & poorly written to the point that I laughed out loud at it several times. The only good part is the well- researched history of the Cathars.

This is the type of book I read and deem it mediochre until I get to the end...And the ending is just so beautiful and cumulative that it was worth reading after all and it will be much greater the second time around when I can see where it's going. Pros were Lovely heroines, evil detestable she-devil villains, utterly fall head over heels in love with heros and the sweetest love story I've seen in a while.. Cons were the needlessly ugly angry gag reflexing sexual content and equally needless and gag reflexing descriptions of dastardly deeds done by the crusaders. And although I didn't mind them, the pages of long historical explanations for certain things were a little uncreative at times. Over all I'll recommend it, if you get discouraged half way through or disgusted, just make yourself keep reading because it is definately worth it at the end.
