This is a wonderful look into the family and traditions behind
Moosehead, Canada's last major independent Canadian-owned brewery.
Sawler explores the origins of the company, the many struggles over
the years, and how Moosehead's leaders managed to follow family
tradition and keep from selling out to the multi-nationals that
swallowed up the other large Canadian breweries over the years.
I've long been a fan of Moosehead beer, but gaining further insight
into the remarkable family behind this small yet powerful brand
makes me that much prouder to spend my beer money on this Canadian
family-owned East Coast product that symbolizes so much about
Canada's spirit, strength, integrity and majesty.
While not touted as a business book, business owners would benefit
from the simple yet effective example of excellence and
determination that six generations of the Oland family have
committed to keeping their heads held high, focusing on their
time-honoured business and products and never losing sight of the
little things.
