However, I am glad I did, this one was quite sweet Not at all shmaltzy or mushy Amanda actually behaves like someone of her time and station would (with a little extra fire of course) Devin sounds totally delicious and I might have had a few little fantasies about him -- hey I've been married for 19 years, a girl has to have a little fun you know Quite a bit of humour for a historical romance, which was a nice surprise I actually really liked the character of Amanda, she would be someone I would have liked to hang out with during this time period Good chemistry between Devin and Amanda -- lots of steamy looks and fiery dialogue Also really enjoyed the relationship between Amanda and her father." I'm an avid fan of Johanna Lindsey and was excited to read her latest book... The characters seemed flat in places and the dialogue was unrealistic and choppy. I persevered through the book but it was not my favourite Lindsey book and left me disappointed - the story had promise but seemed to struggle in places. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great.
