This charming, and dazzling early nine-teen hundreds story is one of my favorites, or is! It features four sisters (Starting with the oldest: Meg, Joe, Beth, Amy)who live a poor life with their mother alone because their father is in war. Then,an old man moves next to their house with his son(who is about Joe's age)and his son's tutor.Of course the girls are intrigued by this young boy, and finally, by a party, Joe gets to meet him. You could say it was a "love at first sight" thing, event though they were just friends. Laurie, the boy, ended up a good friend of the family. But things got more and more complicated for the family March, Beth got extremely sick, their father was injured, and Meg fell in love the boy's teacher.Sadness comes when Beth can't have any help from the doctor, for she has Scarlet fever but by Christmas she is better and thier father is home.Tragedy comes back and I would tell tou the rest, but thats just spoiling the end!
