Not only are the recipes good but it's an enjoyable read. Lots of fun facts and crazy recipe names; Miss American thigh, Starving Guy Chicken Pie, Bean There Dunked That! The fact that it's Canadian, well all the better.

Is this in the right section. Shouldn't it be in the humour section as well as the cook book section.

This will have you rolling on your cutting board.

I bought this book a while back and used it only rarely. The reason? I just can't agree with some of the information they're feeding people. They slam eggs, which have a lot of nutrients and LOW saturated fat content, yet they promote the use of fried bacon in many recipes. Bacon is HIGH in saturated fat, not to mention the cancer-causing nitrates.

All fats are NOT equal! The book oversimplifies by promoting a low-fat diet. What's needed is a diet that's low in SATURATED fats.

In response to the comment regarding the incorrect or dated nutritional information; the authors do admit in their most recent book, that some of the nutritional information was out of date. The reader should be somewhat aware of this; seeing that the book was published 10 years ago. However, this doesn't mean that many of the recipes in "Looneyspoons" aren't still applicable to a healthy diet today, perhaps with some slight alterations. That being said, someone looking for a up-to-date healthy cook book with similar, simple recipes would be advised to pick up their newest cookbook Eat Shrink and Be Merry.

This is a great cookbook. It's written with a sense of humour (every recipe title is a pun of some kind), it's got tons of nutrition facts, and the recipes are nutritious, low fat and actually taste great!

This is the best cook book of any kind I've ever purchased. It's well written and fun to read. It's full of great tips and tricks and it's healthy eating. The best part is that the recipes are family sized and that helps when you have a growing pre-teen boy in the house! The recipes are so good and easy to prepare. I have prepared to dishes already and my husband was shocked to see our 5 year old eating spinach! I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to add healthy, delicious food to your family's diet.

I purchased this book about a year ago, when I got really serious about shedding the extra weight I had been carrying around for far too long. (Let's put it this way: I was still carrying around the weight I gained during my first pregnancy--back in 1988!)

I knew I needed a book that served up lots of tasty foods, and Looneyspoons really delivered. It's Looneyspoons recipes like "Sizzling Rivalry" (a totally yummy chicken, potato, and bean dish) and "Thou Shell Eat Beans" (a zippy bean casserole) that show up on my dinnertable week after week.

Since I started cooking the Looneyspoons way a year ago, I've shed 72 lbs. and written a book (The Incredible Shrinking Woman) about my own weight loss experiences. Needless to say, I give Looneyspoons and Crazy Plates (the Podleski sisters' next book) a major thumbs up in my book. Thanks, Janet and Greta for showing us all that low-fat cooking can be delicious!

    Cooking Made Fun

This is my favorite cook book. It makes cooking one of the most enjoyable tasks of the day. I used to dread having to go home and think of something new and exciting for dinner each night. And now breakfast, lunch and snacks are just as much fun. I used to work with Janet in her "former life" and this book is a true reflection of her personality, bubbly and full of life. I look forward to the next cookbook. Buy this, you won't be disappointed!

I'd listened to the CBC radio interview of the Podleski sisters some time ago and thought the story of how this cookbook came about was pretty interesting - so I bought it. If you like cooking and _absolutely shameless_ puns, this is a cookbook to have. Easy to follow, tasty recipes and irreverent style make this a good buy for beginner cooks or any cook that's looking for fat-reduced recipes. It's not a gourmet book, but the recipe for Peach on Earth (I did mention the shameless puns, no?), a light and fresh peach pie, is just so good, you'll have to hold back in order not to eat the whole pie by yourself (and it's so easy to make!). Enjoy.

I consider myself something of an amateur chef & I have found this book to be funny, and informative with excellent recipes, and fun facts to know and tell. I hope the second book will be as cute and original. ~Rimma

    Creative Cookbook

If you are looking for a cookbook filled with funny fat facts, creative cooking ideas and nutty nutritional information then LooneySpoons is the cookbook for you. I am a beginner cook, but found the cookbook easy to follow. Some of the ingredients I did not recognize, but the cookbook told me where they were located in the supermarket. It opened up a whole new and fun way to cook for me. I have had the book for a six months, and use it often. I recommend it for anyone.
