    Depressing 1

After reading this book I felt depressed, although the book does have a "happy" ending. It's really about how "hard" it was for the author to accept her own child with Autism. The way she describes her self reacting and feeling sounds out of control, almost neurotic. I finished the book and though to my self is this what it is like having a child with ASD?? am I going to end up like this: wildly depressed in uncontrollable crying fits yelling at hospital staff?? The answer is NO!! There is… read more

I read this book some time ago, but thought I would start with it.. it's awesome.. once I started, I couldn't stop and put it down. I learned a lot from this book.. It made me very aware of how strong I needed to be in order to get my son the right people in his life, the right therapies and treatments. Please, if you have a loved one diagnosed with Autism, I suggest this book.. it will inspire you!! My Blog www.autismperspective.blogspot.com

SO many misconceptions and false information about ASDs.... 1

If I could give this book a rating of "zero" (or less) I would.... I know of so many professionals and families who are both saddened and frustrated with this book. This book makes numerous claims which are absolutely unsubstantiated. Jenny McCarthy is a celebrity - NOT a scientist! I would argue that her book has actually hindered, if not harmed, future research and understanding around ASDs.

    A lot of misconceptions 1

This review is from: Louder Than Words (Hardcover)

Jenny McCarthy has a lot of misconceptions about Autism and by using her fame to promote them, she does a disservice to anyone who has or knows someone with Autism. She actually suggests you not vaccinate your child! How many more instances of diseases that were almost eliminated have there been since parents became too frightened to vaccinate their child? You'd be surprised. But she never mentions that in her book. Nor does she mention that there is no shred of scientific proof that… read more

    Amazing 5

Reading about Jenny's experience with autism and vaccines should be recommended to all parents before they vaccinate their children, This book was a page turner that I couldn't put down. Its a touching story about the determination that is required to pull a child "out" of the autism diagnosis. A must read for all !!!

    So informative 4

I’ve always thought Jenny McCarthy has a great sense of humour. After reading this book (in one sitting) she shows that she also has a good head on her shoulders. I applaud her persistence in seeing help for her son and am glad that I bought the book as a portion of the proceeds is donated . . . to . . . some organization that helps with autism? ? I don’t have the book with me and I can’t remember specifically were they go.

I've read this book in a few hours, I couldn't put it down. Her experiences as a mom, have been difficult, but she shows how if you stay on focus and keep all of the positives in front you got a best as shot as anyone to help your child. Would definatly recommend as a must for reading.
