I have to say, this remains one of my all-time favourites. It relays a strong message that life is full of mysteries, but sometimes we must learn to appreciate what we have and let go of what we lost because what we have is ultimately better. This is a good life lesson for anyone. I read this book when I was young, but I keep going back to re-read it

This wasn't as good as "Something Borrowed" or "Something Blue", but nonetheless it was a great read. The best thing about Giffin's novels is that they're quick reads which absorb you completely.

This is the 3rd book I read from Giffin. I liked it but it was definitely not the best one so far. The story line is good but I don't think there are too many events in this book. A lot more was happening in Sth Borrowed & Sth Blue. Will be reading Baby Proof next. Hope this one is good too!

I had heard a lot of bad things about this book; it didn't live up to the hype, it wasn't as good as the first one, it was boring. However, upon reading Love the One You're With, I strongly disagreed with everything I had heard. I love this book. It was a great read, and I related with the character so well that at some points I gasped at what was happening. I did find that it ended too suddenly... but there is rarely a completely perfect book.

recommended for any girl who wonders if they chose "the right one"

This book pretty much brings the idea of true love into the harsh realities of life, be it career, family, or both. But it gives one answer to the question "how can I truly love the one I'm with if I can't forget the one that got away?". The book begins with Ellen's chance encounter with her ex and then begins to tell the story of her past history - her past and present relationships with her ex, parents, sister and best friend as well as her relationship with the man now her husband. As she questions the choices she made in her life, she begins to discover that maybe true love isn't that warm, tingly feeling that makes your heart beat slightly faster, but that true love is making the choice to commit, true love is about family and true love is first and foremost, being true to yourself.

I enjoyed but at the same time I was bothered by this book. I sorta expected the book to be what it was but even knowing that I only read fast because I wanted to be done with it. I probably wouldn't have snagged this book up on my own if I hadn't had to read it for my book club. The lead female really irked me. I understood where she was coming from but I felt like she threw blame on other people rather than realizing that some of the situations and her feelings were strictly due to her behavior rather than her in-laws. I don't think that they would've loved her less if she had at times spoken her mind. She let things progress too far before realizing she had to change the situation. As for her ex-lover coming back in her life I think this shows us all a simple rule. Just tell the husband. Had she told Andy originally there never would've been such a huge build up in her mind. Even if she was still working out her reactions/feelings to Leo's return it wouldn't have been so all-consuming, at least in my opinion.

Well written. You must be in the right frame of mind to read this book as it can seem indulgeant and self destructive. It's about a woman's perspective on a former and an existing relationship and the decisions to make about the two men it involves. Chapters are painfully long which can seem to drag on.

I thought that it was alright but it wont stand out in my book collection. kinda predictable, no real climax. I too thought it was going to be good cause I got into it very quickly but it let me down. I thought it was better then baby proof (boring) but no where near something borrowed or something blue (one of my favs) hopefully she comes out with something good soon or I am going to stop buying all her books!

i was super disappointed with this book. the summary of the book on the back seemed so promising. and i even thought the beginning was good because it wasn't one of those books that took FOREVER to get to its conflict but then i kept reading and it just seemed like the book never had a climax at all. it was boring and predictable and i didn't care much for the character. this was my first book by her and definitely my last.
