I'm not a big reader and I work lots of crazy hours but I managed to finish this book in just 6 days. I really loved it and could barely bring myself to put it down. I always wanted to know what was going to happen next.

well it was allright but far from as good as everybody seem to think it was!!
Anyway, it made me smile at times, but to me Poppy was annoying and the story was a little too cheesy

Was hooked on "Love Struck" within the first chapter and couldn't put it down. Love the characters and the realistic portrayal of life. Poppy's quest to become a more desirable wife, is both humorous and entertaining and kept me reading until the very end. After reading this, will definitely go on to read "Stuck in Downward Dog", by Chantel Simmons.

A very light read, easy to get absorbed in and lose yourself in the characters and the humour.

Chantel Simmons' Love Struck tells the story of a woman who finds out-within the first chapter-not only that her wonderful, dreamy husband is cheating on her (and therefore neither wonderful nor dreamy, right?), but that he has been struck by lightning. Torn between her anger, hurt, and now fear for his life, she finds herself struggling to deal with the situation. Parker doesn't even remember the affair ever happened; what would you do? Poppy decides she needs a makeover, while her husband seems to undergo his own personality transformation. Join Poppy on her hilarious yet embarrassing encounters with the beauty industry. Is Poppy's focus on the superficial going to ruin any chance they have left? And why is her husband acting so funny? And how in the world is it all going to end?

If the characters feel familiar, it is because Parker is that perfect boyfriend you have or dream of, and Poppy shares that fear of getting hurt-minus the cheating part, and the crazy attempts to remake your body in a week, of course. But as Poppy learns, looks are not all that they seem.

Filled with humour and a world you can relate to, Chantel Simmons' Love Struck will have you glued to your seat. In my case, it was a seat on the subway, two hours after having purchased the book, flipping page after page before realizing half an hour had flown by and it was time to go home. The next night, I stayed up past midnight just to read the book, and the next afternoon was spent in the sunshine, absorbing the last few chapters, just to make sure everything turned out alright.

But did it? You'll have to read the book to find out!

Sorry to be the one to say the obvious, but I was love struck with Love Struck!

    Don't miss it!

Load this one up in your summer basket, it is a wonderful read from Chantel Simmons. Her characters are well-developed, there is a nice assortment of good guys/bad guys and somewhere inbetween. She treats us to trips around Yorkville, downtown Toronto and Ontario cottage country while unfolding a plot led by a woman trying a dizzying array of devices to keep secrets and save her marriage. All of this is done with an abundant sense of humour. Don't miss it, read it, you'll be Love Struck.

I am the hugest fan of Chantel's first book Stuck in Downward Dog!!! so it was with huge excitement that I dug into Love Struck. I am not disclosing any spoilers that are not already on the back cover.

I love the premise of the book - a young "with it" image consultant finds out, in the most hilariously possible way" that her husband has been cheating on her. But before she can confront him, she is called by the hospital and informed that her husband was hit by lightning and can't remember what happened - over the course of the last few weeks/months - which means he does not remember the affair (or does he?).

The author chooses to walk a very fine line - in using a very delicate and painful subject matter, but twisting it on its ear with humor. I am not sure how she managed it, but it worked.

While I was seriously upset, on behalf of the main character, about her cheating husband, I also found myself kind of liking the "new man he becomes" and actually finding myself willing to "gasp!" give him a second chance.

One of the things that I realized is that i was not always a fan of the mainc character Poppy who, through, the whole event, somehow keeps vascillating between beeing helpless and annoying but also showing some definite "I am woman, hear me roar" type of attitude.

Its interesting to see how she reacts to the affair - mainly by turning the problem onto herself and trying to look more like "the other woman" which seriously and hilariously backfires on her for the most part.

Throughout the whole storyline, I kept wondering if hubby really did not remember of if he was faking it as a way of saving their relationshp.

There is alot going on here and I loved it! Nobody is exactly who they seem and nothing is clear cut and ovbvious.

There is a tone of melacholy behind the whole storyline, but there is also some seriously funny episodes.

This was a great, great read! Another winner!
