From the Publisher

The New York Times bestselling author of Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and Baby Proof delivers another captivating novel about women and the choices that define them. This is the story for anyone who has ever wondered: How can I truly love the one I''m with when I can''t forget the one who got away? Ellen and Andy''s first year of marriage doesn''t just seem perfect, it is perfect. There is no question how deep their devotion is, and how naturally they bring out the best in each other. But one fateful afternoon, Ellen runs into Leo for the first time in eight years. Leo, the one who brought out the worst in her. Leo, the one who left her heartbroken with no explanation. Leo, the one she could never quite forget. When his reappearance ignites long-dormant emotions, Ellen begins to question whether the life she''s living is the one she''s meant to live. Love the One You''re With is a powerful story about one woman at the crossroads of true love and real life.

A Story of Love and the Choices We Make 5

This book pretty much brings the idea of true love into the harsh realities of life, be it career, family, or both. But it gives one answer to the question "how can I truly love the one I'm with if I can't forget the one that got away?". The book begins with Ellen's chance encounter with her ex and then begins to tell the story of her past history - her past and present relationships with her ex, parents, sister and best friend as well as her relationship with the man now her husband. As she… read more

Well written. You must be in the right frame of mind to read this book as it can seem indulgeant and self destructive. It's about a woman's perspective on a former and an existing relationship and the decisions to make about the two men it involves. Chapters are painfully long which can seem to drag on.

I enjoyed but at the same time I was bothered by this book. I sorta expected the book to be what it was but even knowing that I only read fast because I wanted to be done with it. I probably wouldn't have snagged this book up on my own if I hadn't had to read it for my book club. The lead female really irked me. I understood where she was coming from but I felt like she threw blame on other people rather than realizing that some of the situations and her feelings were strictly due to… read more

    really boring 1

i was super disappointed with this book. the summary of the book on the back seemed so promising. and i even thought the beginning was good because it wasn't one of those books that took FOREVER to get to its conflict but then i kept reading and it just seemed like the book never had a climax at all. it was boring and predictable and i didn't care much for the character. this was my first book by her and definitely my last.

I thought that it was alright but it wont stand out in my book collection. kinda predictable, no real climax. I too thought it was going to be good cause I got into it very quickly but it let me down. I thought it was better then baby proof (boring) but no where near something borrowed or something blue (one of my favs) hopefully she comes out with something good soon or I am going to stop buying all her books!

My First Emily Giffin Book.. 5

After reading L.A. Candy by Lauren Conrad, i wanted something along those story lines. I was looking for a book i could relate to, and a book that would keep me interested. This is the first book by Emily Giffin that i have read and i am impressed by her work. The way the book was written was very well put together and i, along with a lot of other women, can relate to this book, the story line, and the character. NO, i am not married but past relationships can sometimes linger and this… read more

    My Favourite of all 5

This review is from: Love The One You're With: A Novel (Hardcover)

So far this book is my all time favorite, read on the beaches on St Thomas USVI might have had a bit to do with it, but it is a great read. I loved the story line right down to the last page, it really makes you appreciate your relationship and love & value your time together. This book definitely confirms the famous statement that "all things happen for a reason"! I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great chick lit beach worthy read, it is perfect! Enjoy.

Giffin is good in this book, not great. 3

The foundation of the book had to do with a struggling woman who keeps on thinking about the one who got away. It was set up to be a great perfect chick lit as I think that many women can relate to that. However, the heroine lacked substance and events were highly predictable. Better than baby proof but nowhere near something borrowed/blue.

I too was very disappointed by this book. I devoured Something Borrowed and Something Blue, thought Baby Proof was not bad, but this was horrible. It was boring, predictable and felt like it was written half-heartedly and just to get another book out quickly ( a la Danielle Steel). I hope whatever Ms. Giffin comes out with next has a little more effort put into it or I won't be bothering with her novels anymore.

    Quick Read 2

This was the first Emily Giffin book I read, it was a quick entertaining read. I agree that it was predictable I knew exactly what was going to happen before it did. On the other hand it dealt with a situation more then a few people have been in before. Not great, not horrible.
