From Our Editors

In an old-fashioned adventure tale, Lucy sets off on an adventure to find her father, captured by pirates. Lucy and the Pirates is a rollicking, rumbustious story set in the 18th century and will keep youngsters from five to 10 spell bound - from the gorgeous cover to the touching finale. Artist Mattilde Harrison captures each tiny detail in paintings as complex as a Breughal painting, with dozens of figures carefully rendered dancing the fandango and scraping barnacles from the bottom of pirate ships. Lucy, the heroine, and her companion runaway slave, Wilkins, perform feats of bravery and daring which hold young readers rivited.
