    Madame Bovary - Gustave Flaubert

This classic 19th-century novel tells the tale of the unhappily married Madame Bovary, who commits adultery, incurs debt and brings about her own tragic demise. Without a doubt, this novel must have been sensational when first published. Today, it deserves praise as an extremely well-written and powerful story. I enjoyed the book, finding it to be a surprisingly fast, easy read. Next time you want to delve into a classic novel, give this one a try.
