A couple of weeks ago Augusten Burroughs made a trip to the Indigo at Bay and Bloor to sign a couple of copies of his new book "A Wolf at the Table" and answer a few questions. He was hilarious, funky dressed and quite charming. I hadn't heard of Mr. Burroughs and I was qutie intrigued. However, these days I can't read the "terrible childhood/survival" books. I find I'm much more into comedic, witty writing. Especially for the summer months. So it was recommended to me that I try one of his lighter books "Magical Thinking." It is a book compiled of short stories from Augusten's life. I read the first story and was immediatley hooked. This book does have it's dark moments however there are many stories in this book that will have you howling with laughter. If you intend to read this, keep an eye out for stories about: a very GREEDY house maid, the killing of a rodent, oral sex in funeral homes, and pictures sent from fans. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
