Marie Antoinette (movie Tie-in Edition): The Journey

by Antonia Fraser

Doubleday Canada | September 12, 2006 | Trade Paperback

From Columbia Pictures and director Sofia Coppola, a film adaptation of Antonia Fraser's Marie Antoinette starring
Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzman.

France's iconic queen, Marie Antoinette, wrongly accused of uttering the infamous "Let them eat cake," was alternately revered and reviled during her lifetime. For centuries since, she has been the object of debate, speculation, and the fascination so often accorded illustrious figures in history. Antonia Fraser's lavish and engaging portrait excites compassion and regard for the queen, immersing the reader not only in the coming-of-age of a graceful woman, but in the culture of an unparalleled time and place.

The all-star production team of Marie Antoinette includes Francis Ford Coppola, executive producer, Sofia Coppola, screenwriter, producer and director (Lost in Translation), and Ross Katz, producer (Lost in Translation, In the Bedroom) and stars Kirsten Dunst (Spiderman) as Marie Antoinette, Jason Schwartzman (I Heart Huckabees) as Louis XVI, and Rip Torn (Wonder Boys) as King Louis XV.

I am currently reading the novel and am extremely pleased with it. I bought it two or three days ago and am almost finished. A hard read at first but once into it, you do not want to put it down. very informative. I found it almost essay-like (excluding a thesis) it brought to light many very interesting points i had not known about till now.
Antonia Fraser makes you care for the character and love her by stating known facts apposed to giving dialogue to introduce this character. A very good, effective author and a very good book! Thanks for the amazing read!
