I would ask you, perhaps even beg you, to read this book! The story is simply endearing to anyone who has ever spent more than one minute with a lab. You will not be displeased: the story is told in chronological order as it pertains to Marley's life, as though his owners belonged in his life. It will become one of your favorite books as soon as you turn the last page. I guarantee it.

As a dog owner/lover. I was able to relate to a lot of things that went on in this book. This book had me laughing out loud, crying and shaking my head in amazement. This book was a very enjoyable read for me because as I read on, I was remembering memories of my childhood dog, which was a yellow lab, and moments I experience everyday with my 3 dogs that I have now. John and Jenny's lives together were perfect without a care until they brought Marley home. The cute yellow puppy would change their lives forever. As puppies do they grow quickly and Marley grew rapidly tipping the scales at ninety-seven pounds.This Labrador retriever's heart was pure and knew the meaning of unconditional love no matter what. It does not matter if you have a big yellow lab, a small lap dog or no dog of your own. You will read this story and laugh, sometimes so hard you'll have trouble catching your breath. John writes so well you can see everything Marley and the family are experiencing on every page. I would recommend it to everyone and when I get my copy back will pass it on to some one else to enjoy! A must read for the summer. Sit outside and laugh out loud while your own dog(s) entertain you as well.

I saw the movie and still wanted to read the book and am happy to say that they were equally as excellent. I am an animal lover, especially dogs (I have 2 of them) and am dealing with the illness of one. There are no bad dogs out there, just ones full of lessons! It was so touching to be able to know, that there are others out there who see that some family members, don't only have two legs. Thank you John Grogan.

I am reviewing the Movie. This movie was amazing. It's not your typical Dog movie, where the dog joins a perfect family and everything is peachy kean. This movie is so realistic, it shows the ups and downs of a real family, and how the relationship between the family and the dog evolves through out the whole movie. Marley and Me was hilarious! I'm not a dog-lover, but I loved this book. The crazy things that a dog will do will make you appreciate that you don't have a dog that will drive you crazy. However, the book is based on a family and they life struggles and successes they go through together. The book is more touching than the movie. This book was very emotional: I cried, laughed, gasped and shook my head at the things a dog will do to gain attention.

I laughed, I cried, I shook my head and said, "yes, I understand. I did that." or "She did that'. But it was the unconditional love and total loyalty that you just cannot put aside, as well as the moments of joy that their love gives you in between the moments of sheer terror and grief! Anyone who has had a dog in their life will love this book.

I bought this book more out of curiousity than anything else... my thoughts were 'how good can a book be that is about a dog'. Having finished the book I can now say that it was one of the best books I have read. It had me laughing and crying and I felt very much a part of Grogan's family. The book was alright, the ending was probably the best part. I probably would've liked this book a lot better if Grogan wasn't trying to be so humorous. I found the sarcasm and attempts to be funny really annoying, especially in the beginning.

I definitely recommend this title to any animal lover. Grogan's descriptions of Marley and the various situations he gets into had me laughing out loud several times. I cried until my eyes were red and puffy at the ending - so much so that my cat jumped up onto the back of my reading chair, put one paw on my cheek and licked my face, as if to say "Don't be sad - look at how cute I am". If you are an animal lover this is the book for you. I read the book in 2 1/2 days, I just could not put it down. Marley is a dog that you just fall in love with, you may recognize him as one that you may have had. You may see things that your dog has done or if your lucky you will only have heard of some of these things! You will laugh and you will cry. I highly recommend this book.

As a dog owner I couldn't pass up reading this book and was so happy I did, so much of what Marley did reminded me of my childhood dog, it was nice to be reminded of things I had forgotten over the years. While reading it I felt as if I was right there witnessing everything as it happened. It was such a heart warming tale of a couple and their out of control dog. For all the dog and animal lovers in general this is a must read.
