About the Author

Meena Pathak, the creative force behind the famous Patak''s Indian food line, became passionate about food as a child living in India. She found the colours, spices, and flavours the family cook would work with every day fascinating. Meena first began making chutneys and pastes which are still her favourite.

Her enthusiasm for cooking took off when she immigrated to the UK as a newlywed in 1979. Meena was appalled by the lack of authenticity of the Indian food in her new home. When she discovered her husband''s family was behind the food line then called Patak''s Pickles, she set about including many more Indian foods. The company now exports items to over 40 countries and includes curry sauces, snacks, poppadoms, chapatis, pastes, and, of course, pickles.

When she''s is not in her kitchen, Meena enjoys music, theatre, Indian dance, and spending time with her pets.
