Metro Girl Cd Unabridged

by Janet Evanovich

HARPERCOLLINS PUBLISHERS | October 21, 2004 | Audio Book (CD)

Buckle your seat belts. Number-one New York Times bestselling author Janet Evanovich is moving into the fast lane with Metro Girl, a thrilling, high-octane misadventure with high stakes, hot nights, cold-blooded murder, sunken treasure, a woman with a chassis built for speed, and one very good, very sexy NASCAR driver who's along for the ride.

"Wild" Bill Barnaby's dropped off the face of the earth and big sister Alex heads for Miami, Bill's last known sighting, on a harrowing hunt to save her brother ... and maybe the world. Alex blasts through the bars of South Beach and points her search south to Key West and Cuba, laying waste to Miami hit men, dodging Palmetto bugs big enough to eat her alive, and putting the pedal to the metal with NASCAR driver Sam Hooker. Engaged in a deadly race, Wild Bill's "borrowed" Hooker's sixty-five-foot Hatteras and sailed off into the sunset ... just when Hooker has plans for the boat. Hooker figures he'll attach himself to Alex and maybe run into scumbag Bill. The race to the finish is hot and hard.

Don't get me wrong I love Stephanie Plum but I'm new to reading them and this was a break from reading 1-8 all after another. The writing style is so similar yet the characters are different and the same in many ways. Except for Hooker he is nothing like Morelli yet you just love him too.Its funny and its one crazy moment after another.

I have read all the Plum books and the Full series and I have enjoyed them all...Metro Girl was very similar to the Plum books but not as humorous. I did enjoy the story...its one of those stories where you don't need to analyze everything, its nice light reading!

I've only read one other Evanovich book and while this wasn't as good, I still enjoyed it. I actually listened to this one on Audio as I like to have something to listen to on long drives when I'm travelling alone. The one comment I'll make about the audio is that the voice didn't seem to fit the book. I have listened to a couple of others and I have found that the reader choices better matched the main character than this did. Main character was young and voice sounded young. This one, the main character seemed like she'd be on the younger side but the voice sounded too mature? As far as content, as one reader commented, it was a little unbelievable, but what movie or book isn't? It was still OK. If I purchase other Evanovich books though, it would be based on her other series

I've read all of the Plum series and enjoyed most of them.
This one is a bit different but again with a female heroine in a man's world.
Not as smoothly written as the Plum series but still has the moments of humour.
Suggest you check out Eleven on Top or others in the Plum series.

    Never Again

I had never read any books by this author, but like many, heard her mentionned many times. I finally picked up "Metro Girl", and was amazed at how poorly it was written. I had to make a continuous effort just to get through it. The writing resembled a Harlequin novel, the storyline uninterresting, and obviously unbelievable. In short, I hated this book, and seriously wonder how so many readers love her writing. Are all her books written in the same style? I surely hope not.

    Just as Good as Plum

The Plum series was introduced to me a few years ago, it did not take me long to read her first nine books. Then when Janet came out with the Metro Girl series I was at first a little hesitant of getting it, was worried that it would not be as good/funny as the Plum series. Needless to say I was wrong, it was just as good/funny as the Plum series. Since then I have collected/own all Janet Evanovich books, and waste no time in picking them up as they are released. I can say that reading Janet's books are very enjoyable, if you are feeling a litle down pick up one of Janet's books, it feels so good to have a good hearty laugh.

I was surprised by Evanovich's Metro Girl; she's trying to leave Stephanie the Bondsman/woman behind and create a new Baltimore character, but I found the book predictable, tedious in places, and, unforgiveably, rife with cliches (don't we have editors anymore?). I did find her conflict character , a NASCAR driver ( Nascar Guy , as he refers to himself) to be funny and engaging, but that's about it. The rest is formulaic and relies too much on coincidence.
I found the book definitely a cut BELOW her earlier series, and won't be waiting eagerly for future adventures in this series.
