Micah is the 13th book in the Anita Blake vampire hunter books. This book was very short Novella. Anita must go out of town to raise a zombie for the FBI. He was a mob informant who was about to testify before dying of a heart attack. Anita must raise him so they can get his testimony for trial. Anita walks the old cemetery and realizes that her power has grown. She’s on the verge of raising the whole cemetery because of her rise in power. The book gives us more information on Micah. We learn how he became a wereleopard and dealing with it at the beginning. Micah has rented a beautiful suite in a fancy hotel so he and Anita can finally be alone. The book has a big revelation at the end, which will become a major component in the future books. The book was very short. I was able to read it completly in an afternoon. It was a fast pace enjoyable read. I took the book for what it’s worth, quick and fun.

This book is really more of a novella or short story than a full novel and as such, the story is pretty basic. It is still a good read though, if you are a fan of the Anita Blake series - although it is more of an 'extra' than part of the series storyline. By this I mean that it provides additional character information but doesn't advance the overall story of the series. In this book, Anita has to fly out of town to raise a zombie. Things are more complicated now that she has the 'ardeur' and has to bring a 'meal' along. Micah volunteers to help out. It's nice to see more of the relationship between Anita and Micah. As Micah points out, this is the first time they have ever been alone together for an extended amount of time. This makes Anita a little antsy. You really just want to give her a shake and yell at her for trying to sabbotage a great thing. I would love a Micah.....where can I find one?

I have to say that this novel was not what I had anticipated from Laurell K. Hamilton and had been disgusted with the quick read and complete boredom. I absolutely LOVE all of her books and have them the day they come out. I have to say that other than the introduction of a new amazing character this book had little in the way of storyline or entertainment. It fell flat and felt like it was empty, rushed and something to fill the editors pockets and nothing more. I was a very disapointed fan!! I was all too happy when she made up for it in her new Merideth Gentry Series!!

It thoroughly dissapointed all around, in my opionion. Now granted, Micah is indeed one of my favorite characters. But this book was 280 pages of useless words. This is a great series, but I think Laurell K Hamilton just dished this out for something to do. The biggest part of this novel was Anita's quenching the Adreur with Micah. I think that Laurell can do much better with Anita.

I have to start this off with how much I love the Anita Blake series. I'm very disappointed in this book. When I saw it in the bookstore I was disappointed with the printing which was enlarged with more spacing between lines, a dead giveaway to a lackluster book. The story was unexpectedly lacking in substance where it could have been so much more. Not only on the Micah-Anita level, but in the zombie raising and supporting characters as well. This book feels rushed and insubstantial. I finished it in 2 hours and was shaking my head by the time I was halfway through. It feels like a sliver of pie when all of the other books have been an entire pie. I'm disappointed in spending $10 on this book and would recommend to wait until it shows up on the discount table. You won't miss much in the series if you skip this book.

It was good as this series usually is but it was a really short story, I expected more development from the Micah/Anita situation but nothing really happened except for some very limited background info into Micah's past . I really hope the next book is better, and anwers more questions with better detail...the story needs to start developing instead of going off on more and more tangents without resolving anything.

Even though the book was small, it was still great. It really helped to get into Micah's life before he met Anita and everything that he went through. It also showed how much Anita really cares for Micah and Nathaniel as well, and I hope to see much more come from Laurell. All I left to say, is that great things come from small packages!

I was hesitant to read it, but when i did I was glad i did. It finally gives some insight to what Anita is. It was a quick read, and one i would recomend only if you are familiar with the series. If not, you would probably be a LITTLE lost. But over all, its a good one! Good Reading, S.

I love to let my imagination get overwhelmed by detail and emotions when reading the Anita Blake novels, but with Micah I felt let down. This felt like an excerpt from a book instead of a book itself. I realized that things would end abruptly when I was ¾ finished and the dead weren’t raised. This book was a BIG disappointment compared to the other novels, and I feel that it would dissuade readers from continuing in the series if this was their first introduction into the Anita Blake series. It was an ok read, but I do not recommend paying full price for this one…wait until it’s on sale.

While this isn't her best, or sexiest book, I thought that this book was a great bridge from the last book (Incubus Dreams) to her next book, Danse Macbre. This book takes the time to explain some of the details of the Micah/Anita relationship that tends to get over looked in the other books. I look forward to rereading this one again this summer at the cottage.
