Reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Complete, But for Older Children I realize now that I have been reading edited versions of the nursery rhymes for years. In this Treasury, if not all the rhymes, at least a high percentage of them, are written in their entirety. There are many lovely full page coloured pictures and also line drawings beside most stanzas. The illustrations have a soft colour, and may be original to the Mother Goose books of past centuries. This is better suited to be a "heritage" book than a nightly"read aloud" offering for a toddler. The pictures are not bright and there is not a picture for every poem. Some poems would be too long to appeal to the very young. I could see a adult remembering his childhood while reading this book or an older child enjoying it while practicing his reading skills.

From the Jacket

"""May I have the pleasure to introduce some very old friends?"" Says Mother Goose.
""There's little Bo-Peep and little Boy Blue,
The little old Woman who lived in a shoe,
Old Mother Hubbard as well as her dog,

Dame Trot and Sir Anthony Rowley Frog,
Humpty Dumpty, and Dickory Dock,
The dear little mouse who ran up the clock,
The puss who journeyed to London alone,
And saw the queen on a golden throne:
So come, my little folks, open me,
And lots of other old friends you'll see!"""
