I loved the idea of this book. Reincarnation has always intrigued me so I was really excited to start reading this one. I should mention, I did find some flaws in the context of this novel, as well as a but of confusion from the third person narrating. I was able to look past it considering the storyline kept me interested and I found myself not being able to put it down. All in all, this book leaves you with a sense of wonder about life and leaves you with a feeling of hope that a love strong enough can withstand anything, even death. The ending left me hanging, so I am interested to see if there will ever be a sequel!

Fascinating concept and a page turner of a novel. However, there are some fundamental narrative/structure/character flaws which make the book lag in certain sections. This is a good summer read, but in another author's hands it could have been a great book.

It wasn't my favourite book and it took me a while to read but overall it wasn't the worst book I had ever read. It's a little boring and I little slow also but the ending is where it picks up I guess. You also get really confused because it's in the third person so it gets a little confusing but it's fine I guess. Overall it was a good book but the ending definitely leaves something to be desired. As in it totally leaves you hanging. If it sounds interesting to you then you should read but if not then I don't think you'll be missing much.

This book will have you thinking long after you've finished reading it. It opens up many open ended questions and leaves you wondering about the world you live in, and I loved every minute of it. I had never read any of Ann's books before, but I am a fan now. The idea of many lives is thought provoking; an idea full of hope and wonder. I recommend this book to everyone I know, and it currently resides with my boyfriend as he finishes it. I would highly recommend this book for any Nicholas Spark fans.

I have never read any of Ann Brashares books until today. I sat my self down and opened the book. Intrigued first by the idea of living many lives, I bought this book. Right from the start I was hooked, never have I read a book like this before. I love to read and I get through at least two novels a week. I am officially devoted to 'My Name Is Memory" I longingly hope there is a sequel to this book. The passion and love between Daniel and Lucy makes you believe that love can be true and pure. I am not much for romance but this book touched my heart. I would love to thank Ann for writing this book, I will read it over and over until there is a sequel3

This book is, simply put., amazing. I love the idea behind it and secretly hope that one day I will come back with 'memories'. Thank you, Ann Brashares, for letting me indulge in your amazing book.

Daniel and Lucy are touted as the next Edward and Bella on the book-jacket. I think that is overselling a bit. That said, I liked this book. It had interesting concepts about our souls and the potential for soul-mates. However, this story is a bit long on build-up and a bit short on resolution. I've read some reviewers hypothesize that this is the first in a trilogy. If that's the case, I would definitely read the sequel; which might improve my thoughts on this as a stand-alone novel that ended entirely too abruptly. Fingers crossed for a sequel to this enjoyable albeit quick love-story.

His name is Daniel, and he has been in love with and searching for Lucy for the past 1500 years. Ann Brashares story has taken me on the most magical, heartbreaking, romantic adventure of my life! I wouldn't classify myself as a "romance" fan per se (most of them get filed under cheesy & cliche), but every now and then a novel comes along that defies the genre, and is so perfectly balanced, it completely knocks my socks off. I can't ever remember reading a story that made my heart ache so badly for it's characters. Their longing felt like my own, I wept for their losses, and rejoiced with them when they were brought together - no matter how fleetingly. If you enjoyed The Gargoyle, The Time Traveller's Wife, or even New Moon, do not let this get missed! I can't wait to revisit these characters and will be waiting with baited breathe for the next chapter in what has to be, one of the most beautiful romances ever written!

Absolutely amazing! It kept me interested the entire way through! Such an intriguing concept, with such in-depth characters. One of my favorites, for sure.

I have been a fan of Ann Brashares for years now, so I was extremely happy to read her first book meant for an adult readers. I was a little skeptical about "My Name is Memory" at first as it seemed a lot like Andrew Davidson's "The Gargoyle" (as one reviewer has already noted). There are some similarities with the premise of the book, but the two separate themselves quickly. The beginning started off slow, and I found it difficult at first to bond with the main characters, as Lucy (aka Sophia) seems childish and obsessive, while Daniel was a little creepy and unconvincing. I have to admit, I warmed to Lucy, but I'm still not overly fond of Daniel. Daniel is the one that tells us of his past with Sophia, and the hundreds of years in between their first encounter and his meeting with Lucy. He tells of how, as a young man, he fearlessly joined the military, ready to give his life for a cause. The story of Sophia finds him risking his life to save her. Daniel continues to tell tales about how he risked it all for the love of his life. And then we come to present day Daniel, who I found weak. It was easy to like the Daniel from the past, but far more difficult to bond with the contemporary version of him. The middle of the book is by far the strongest part in terms of story line and character development. Lucy gets a personaility, and we begin to understand their background better. All the improvements from this section quickly shatter when Lucy falls for a simple trick created by the books villain (which I'm pretty sure shouldn't have fooled anyone over the age of five). From here, the book comes to a fairly quick and awkward end. I'm glad that there will be a sequel, because I definitely enjoyed aspects of this book enough to want to continue on with Daniel and Lucy's story. I hope that Brashares will work to create a better bond between contemporary Lucy and Daniel, and stop having the two question the other's desires and notions. They've known each other to some extent for 1300 years or so, so I'd like to see a more mature relationship develop. Overall, it's worth a read as I'm sure aspects of the book that bothered me will not be noticed by everyone. I'm also positive that the next book will have much more action and we'll see more tension rise between the villain and the stories protagonists. I'm also hopeful that some of the minor characters like Marnie and Ben will become involved and we'll get to understand more about the connection between souls.
