NEXUS: A novel

by Deborah Morrison, Arvind Singh
Editor: Michael Michael Davie

Manor House Publishing Inc. | September 30, 2006 | Trade Paperback

NEXUS is one of the most unusual novels you're ever likely to read - and one of the most spiritually fulfilling and enjoyable.

Written almost entirely in the present tense, and incorporating spiritual teachings and Mystical Poetry selections, NEXUS follows the soul-searching journeys of an odd mix of people thrown together at a spiritual retreat designed to help them cope with the pain in their lives and overcome their shortcomings to find the centre of their being, the Nexus.

Central character Logan is a stressed-out, suicidal American-Canadian journalist, overwhelmed by a series of losses in his tragic life and beset by visions of a spiritual guru, when he comes upon a chance opportunity to meet up with the guru of his visions.

He soon finds himself on a jet headed for a small town in Canada and realizes he's embarking on a remarkable journey of self-discovery and self-worth that's connected with everyone and everything around him. Yet nightmarish thoughts of suicide return to haunt him.
Can Logan Andrews exorcise inner demons propelling him to self-destruction before it's too late?

Following his vivid dream, Logan is guided to a spiritual retreat where he meets his lost love, Sarah, along with an arrogant millionaire, a grandmotherly woman and two insightful teachers.

Problems soon emerge for Logan and others at the retreat. What happens to each character and the depth of their personal experiences makes NEXUS a journey of transformation… and a compelling and captivating read.

I read "Nexus" with little expectation but I become completely engrossed by the story, particularly since the plot was nicely paced and offered practical wisdom within the narrative.

The story leaves a deep impression, which I am still fully exploring. It has a dream-like quality and the descriptive elements seem like a play or movie.

For those looking for a novel with depth, "Nexus" is the perfect answer to your search.
