Recently I was able to borrow and read parts of this book and found
it to be a most revealing, truthful study of Canadian history. I
found it excellent; but I was most disappointed to learn that,
while you still list this book, your display indicates that it is
no longer available. Canadian "history" tends to focus on internal
perspectives and achievements while historic, religious, economic
and political events in other countries which led to our
multicultural society are generally ignored. And yet our combined
history is the richest in the world. Like it or not, we're all
immigrants and until our history is treated holistically in a
balanced and honest fashion will true multicultural harmony merely
be a dream. Rather than be divisive, history should serve to bring
all Canadians together through better understanding of why we and
our ancestors chose to come to this, the best country in the world
to live in.
