Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men

by Molly Harper

Pocket Star | August 25, 2009 | Mass Market Paperbound

Following Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs, the second in a hilarious, smart, sexy romantic series about an out-of-work librarian who is turned into a vampire.

With her best friend Zeb's Titanic-themed wedding looming ahead, new vampire Jane Jameson struggles to develop her budding relationship with her enigmatic sire, Gabriel. It seems unfair that she's expected to master undead dating while dealing with a groom heading for a nuptial nervous breakdown, his hostile werewolf in-laws, and the ugliest bridesmaid dress in the history of marriage.

Meanwhile, the passing of Jane's future step-grandpa puts Grandma Ruthie back on the market. Her new fiancÉ, Wilbur, has his own history of suspiciously dead spouses, and he may or may not have died ten years ago. Half-Moon Hollow's own Black Widow has finally met her match.

Should Jane warn her grandmother of Wilbur's marital habits or let things run their course? Will Jane always be an undead bridesmaid, never the undead bride?

Combining Mary Janice Davidson's sass and the charm of Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse novels, this is an incredibly satisfying read for fans of paranormal romantic comedy.

Nice girls don't date dead men is the second book in molly harpers hilarious series.

Ex libarian jane jameson is back and this time she is in wedding hell. Her best friend zeb is getting married to jolene the werewolf and let's just say both families arn't to happy about it.
Jolene's family is mad that she is marring a human instead of her cousin and that she wants to move out of the compound where her WHOLE FAMILY lives(do you blame her?), so they are making life pretty hard for zeb and a few"accidents" have even occured.

Zeb's family doesn't want him to marry jolene because in his mamma gingers eyes zeb is supose to be with jane and no one else will do. Mamma ginger will do everything and anything to get zeb the jane together, even though they are just friends and becides, jane is with gabriel.

Gabriel is starting to worry about janes feelings towards him because zeb is starting to act weird around her and her first boy crush adam is starting to woo her and to top it off gabriel keeps getting these threatning letters saying to stay away from jane OR ELSE.

While jane has told gabriel she only wants to be with him, she is having major trust issues because he keeps going out of town on business trips and he doesn't answer his phone and sometimes he's not even where he says he's staying, but she doesn't want to be "that" girlfriend so she stay's quiet......for now.

Becides the wedding plans and the constant phone calls about the families fighting jane has to worry about her own family drama. Grandpa #4 has just died and gramma ruthie has a date to the funeral!
Wilber is her next victium, but let's just say he isn't going to die anytime soon. Then theres her sister jenny who has her laywers breathing down her neck to make sure she gets what's rightfully hers. With all this drama at least she doesn't have to worry about dick.

Dick is very interested in andrea, the "blood for sale" chick and janes best female friend but she isn't interested in him, but that won't stop dick, he does love a good chase.

I really love molly harpers writting style and hummor and jane is very easy to relate to. This was such a great book that I actually finished it in one day and at the end I had a big silly smile on my face.

Jane is the maid of hour in her best friend Zeb's wedding. Zeb is marrying Jolene the werewolf. Thank goodness that Gabriel is there to support her, when he is not on business trips and not answering Jane's calls.

Through all the work and parties leading up to the actual wedding the couple keep leaning on Jane to either help out or fix things all together. It does not help when Jolene's werewolf family are playing mean practical jokes on Zeb. (He does lose a toe) and Zeb's mom Mama Ginger wants Zeb to marry Jane. Mama Ginger goes so far as to threaten Gabriel. When that does not work she tries bribing Gabriel.

Jane's Grandmother loses another husband but is engaged within the week. Jane thinks that there is someone wrong with Walter. Walter will only drink a protein drink that is mostly pig's blood; he also has a death certificate.

While Zeb and Jolene are planning to marry, Zeb starts to act a little weird. Ever now and then he says really mean things about Jolene, and he tries to kiss Jane. Jane knows that something is wrong but can't quite put her finger one it. During the wedding rehearsal when Zeb declares his love for Jane, Jane realises it is time to figure it out. Mama Ginger has been using a hypnotist to get Zeb to dump Jolene.

Second book in the series. This book was a little better than the first. You know all the characters and they just keep evolving. I love that the humour keeps up. Jane made me laugh so hard that I was getting looks from the people sitting around me. The only downside was that I found Jane to get a little whiny when it comes to Gabriel. Instead of just telling him what she wants or what she is worried about Jane drags it out or keeps it in until the situation blows up in her face.

Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men continues the adventures of Jane Jameson, former librarian turned vampire. Jane is a delightful character and the book is cover to cover laughs.

Jane was accidently killed by a drunken deer hunter, but her life was saved (in a manner of speaking) when she was turned into a vampire by Gabriel who is now her lover. Gabriel is hot, sexy and broody like all self-respecting male vampires, and he and Jane get together often to play 'happy naked games' (although on the pants off scale, this book is only a 1.5). Lately, their relationship has hit a rough patch though because of Gabriel's secret calls and frequent business trips. But Jane can't spend all her time wondering about Gabriel. She's got a lot to do. Jane is the best maid for Zeb, her best friend since they were children. Zeb is about to marry Jolene (who is a werewolf). Jolene is a sweetheart and she and Zeb adore each other - it's their families who are causing trouble. Jolene's family isn't all that happy about her marrying a human, while Zeb's mother, Ginger, is acting like Momzilla. Ginger had her heart set on Jane and Zeb marrying each other and nothing they say or do can persuade her otherwise. Most people faced with terminally crazy families would elope but Jolene is set on a Titanic theme for her big day complete with a 30 foot iceberg and nothing is going to stop her from having the wedding of her dreams. Since Jane is the only sensible person around, she has been roped into wedding planning hell, and to add insult to injury, she has to wear the ugliest bridesmaid's dress on the planet.

Jane makes a great narrator. She's funny, intelligent and, considering all the problems thrown at her, she's remarkably unflappable. It's not too often that I've read a book where I can say I laughed on almost every page, but I did at this book (and the one before). A truly funny book with a great heroine adds up to a great read.

You think YOU are having a bad day? Jane was fired as a children's libarian in small town Half Moon Hollow; her car broken down late at night and being mistaken for a deer and shot. That's right, a deer. She was left for dead when Gabriel Nightengale offered her a second chance at life, Jane took it.

Jane now works in an occult bookstore and is just getting a handle on her undead life, but is also helping to plan her best-friend Zeb's wedding to the lovely Jolene, a werewolf. All this wedding planning has her wondering where she stands with Gabriel, her sire and lover. All whilst dreading wearing the ugliest bridesmaid dress in history at Zeb & Jolene's Titanic themed wedding.

Would you say you liked this book the same, or better, than the first one?

    Wicked Lil Pixie

I'd say I liked it better than the first one, since you get to learn a bit more about the characters and you're more familar with them.
