Night

by Elie Wiesel

Bantam Books | March 1, 1982 | Mass Market Paperbound

Night -- A terrifying account  of the Nazi death camp horror that turns a young  Jewish boy into an agonized witness to the death of  his family...the death of his innocence...and the  death of his God. Penetrating and powerful, as  personal as The Diary Of Anne  Frank, Night awakens the shocking  memory of evil at its absolute and carries with it  the unforgettable message that this horror must  never be allowed to happen again.

This book is a classic. I had to read it for my high school English class nearly a decade ago and to this day I can vividly remember the discussions our class had with regards to Elie's experience during- and post-Holocaust period. Mr. Wiesel's writing is so moving that it made the event real in my mind and the time gap between WWII and now irrelevant. I highly recommend Night to anyone with or without an interest in the Holocaust.
