This is the investment guide that you'll consult again and again because the information is specific to investing for Canadians. Explanations are clear, concise, free of baffling jargon. The author is an industry outsider so there's no marketing angle, just the straight goods like the title of the book says. If you're a novice investor or know a young person starting a career, this is invaluable reading. Even if you have some investing experience, this is a good reference to have on your bookshelf.

Gail Bebee's No Hype: The Straight Good on Investing Your Money is a valuable guide for Canadian investors.

If you are new to investing, this handy little book (186 pages) walks you from the basics of where you can find reliable information on investments and where to set up an investment account to types of investments you might consider.
If you already have some investment experience, this book is a valuable reference on the sometimes bewildering choice of types of investments that are available and a good source of information on how to balance your investment portfolio.

I recommend this book for both novice investors and those who want to expand their horizons in terms of types of investments, while maintaining their investment goals.

I just finished reading 'No Hype - The Straight Goods on Investing Your Money' and found it informative, easy to read and a good self-help guide for those interested in managing their money.. It is a book for people like me who want financial information but not wanting to be burdened with the intricacies of over-explanation. The fact it is Canadian content is a definite plus. A really well-written companion piece to help me plan my financial future.

An excellent overview.... I've been searching for a comprehensive Canadian guide for novices and I'm happy to recommend this one. Ellen Roseman - The Toronto Star, author of Money 101 and Money 201 ...I found myself in agreement with just about all of Bebee’s conclusions, and not just on investment products. Jonathan Chevreau -The Financial Post It is refreshing to read this book...rather than books by industry insiders. It provides an objective look at investing and will be of great benefit to all small investors. Stan Buell, President, Small Investor Protection Association A must-read for any Canadian interested in taking control of their money. David Trahair, Author of Smoke & Mirrors: Financial Myths That Will Ruin Your Retirement Dreams It’s a good, comprehensive overview - written in a crisp and concise way.... Even for more experienced investors, it could be a handy reference guide to have in the home library.... Larry MacDonald, Canadian Business Online A newbie investor would find the book invaluable as no prior familiarity with investing is assumed. The Canadian Capitalist Blog The writing style is accessible and understandable, the explanations straightforward and simple. Canadian Financial DIY Blog A first-rate book. The most comprehensive book on investing I’ve read and I’ve read a lot of them. Bertram Barrow, Former Commissioner, Foreign Investment Review Agency of Canada
