Born and raised in Norway, Lise Lunge-Larsen grew up "knowing where the trolls lived and where the wood elves played their music." She has studied folklore at the University of Oslo and the University of Minnesota and, more recently, has taught children"s literature and storytelling at the University of Minnesota in Duluth. She and her family live in the hills of Duluth.

Matthew Trueman is the talented illustrator of several children''s books. Raised in Italy, he now lives in Alpha, New Jersey, with his wife.
