Not Done Yet: Living Through Breast Cancer

Not Done Yet: Living Through Breast Cancer

by Laurie Kingston

Three O'Clock Press Inc. | April 1, 2009 | Trade Paperback

Not Done Yet opens a window on one woman''s journey through breast cancer treatment, recovery, recurrence, and beyond. When she found a lump in her breast in December 2005, Laurie Kingston was thirty-eight, with an active life, a family, and a demanding job. A diagnosis of breast cancer was nowhere on her radar screen. But when the diagnosis was confirmed months later, Laurie began writing a blog. She wanted to process her reactions and express what she was feeling. Above all, she wanted to write about her experience in her own way.

Laurie writes with both humour and compassion about her ups and downs as she comes to grips with this new reality. Not Done Yet will speak to those who are going through the same experience, those who know someone who is, or anyone who has wondered about living joyfully when life has been turned upside down.

About the Author

Laurie Kingston was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and decided to create a blog about it. That blog is the basis for this very candid, moving, and often very funny book about a mother, lover, and angry cancer activist who continues to find a great deal to enjoy in life. Laurie lives and writes in Ottawa.

From the Critics

"This is a very very good book - witty, insightful, thoughtful and ultimately inspiring. It''s a great read and will really help every person on cancer treatment (and many of their doctors!)." -Robert Buckman, Medical Oncologist, author of Cancer Is a Word, Not a Sentence Kingston''s book provides the detail and emotional shadings that give meaning to these stark, exterior facts. The honest telling of a singular story weaves the experience of cancer into the whole cloth of a life, reworked after a devastating rupture. - Sharon Batt, author of Patient No More: The Politics of Breast Cancer
