A beautifully written celebration of the day a new baby enters the world. I gave this book to my son for his first birthday, and would highly recommend it for any parent to give to his or her child. This book offers a reminder of what a blessing our children really are.

A Beautiful Book! A Great Gift!

The beautiful words and wonderful illustrations work together in this book to celebrate the anticipation, excitement and miracle of birth! I have given this book to friends who have become new parents. They frequently remark how special this book is since it always reminds them of the day their children were born (and it has moved them to tears as well). I am not a parent (yet) but it brings tears to my eyes everytime I read it to my second grade class. I use it to remind my students how special they are and how the day of their birth was a gift to all of us.

From the Critics

For more than fifteen years, this book has been a favorite gift to give new and expectant parents to celebrate the birth of their child. All of the earth seemed to know about this momentous event as word spread among the animals and the sun, moon, and earth awaited the baby''s arrival. The sun lit up the day, the moon the night and "offered to bring a full, bright face, each month to your windowsill." How fascinating to think that this entire world was made for a human child to enjoy and to thrive. The joy is echoed by the people who also waited for this birth "''Welcome to the green Earth,'' the people sang, as they wrapped your wet, slippery body. And as they held you close." Young ones will also enjoy the lovely story of how welcome they are.
