Maybe not an appropriate review title, but I have to say that I was taken aback by Eckhart Tolle's writing in this novel. Having already read and loved A New Earth, I though this book was written with bittern, jaded disappointment in the human society. I did not find much inspiration or value in this novel, which will come as surprise to almost every one, but the truth is I did not like it. However, there were some redeemable moments in the chapters. Some that I liked very much, but certainly not enough to redeem the book.

This is a wonderful set of CD's that has a very calming effect on the listener. Now is important not what happened yesterday or what could happen tomorrow. We don't spend enough time in the Now and this set of CD's helps get you there

This book provided me with the best explanation for why our lives do not work and what we can do about it.

From Our Editors

Eckhart Tolle details how he pulled himself out of despair and into self-realization just after his 29th birthday. He takes readers on a journey through the next 10 years, as he founds a philosophy that has characteristics in common with Buddhism, relaxation techniques and meditation theory. Tolle explains how to recognize yourself as creator of your own pain and how to have a pain-free life by merely living in the present. The Power of Now teaches readers how to get in touch with themselves and live in the now.

About the Author

Born in Germany in 1948, spiritual author and teacher Eckhart Tolle also lived in Spain and England before settling in Vancouver, Canada, where he has resided since 1995. Tolle received his education at the Universities of London and Cambridge. Following several sustained periods of depression, at the age of 29 Tolle experienced an enlightenment that dramatically changed the course of his life. His subsequent spiritual teachings have focused on awareness of the present moment, freedom from negativity, and the attainment of inner peace. Tolle does not align himself with any specific religion or tradition. Tolle wrote the New York Times bestseller "The Power of Now," which has been translated into 33 languages, as well as "A New Earth." These two titles are considered to be among the most influential spiritual books in recent times. Tolle has also recorded many audio interviews and a video. Tolle is a public speaker who teaches and travels throughout the world. In January 2008, "A New Earth" was selected for Oprah Winfrey's book club.
