Rated 1 out of 5 by from Giving up too much! I read about the diet and thought it made perfect sense. I couldn't wait to try it. I went out and bought a large amount of groceries to get started (a lot of money). I lasted one week on the diet. I didn't lose any weight (which I had hoped would happen), I was miserable without the carbs and the small amount of salt in my diet. I would rather be happy and eat grains and dairy (healthy whole grains and greek yogurt and low fat cheeses), than be unhappy and eat only veggies, fruit and lean meat. I can see this diet working for some, but if you love food and it's not just fuel for you, I would recommend skipping this diet and sticking to a healthy diet free of refined sugar and flour products. Eat as naturally as possible, but include the whole grains you love.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't Wait to Read it I have just ordered this book and am excited to read it. It makes complete and perfect sense to me. Having suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome for much of my life I was constantly told by Drs. and nutritionists to eat more grains. In reality, it was the grains in my diet that were causing the problems. The more I ate (as instructed by health professionals) the worse my condition got. I stumbled across "Breaking the Vicious Cyle" and as a last resort before contemplating surgery to have a portion of my intestine removed I put myself on this diet. It is essentially the same school of thought. No grains (plenty of fibre in vegetables and fruits), no sugars, no processed meats. I was on the diet for 6 months (10 years ago) and my IBS has disappeared. How amazing to go from a serious condition requiring surgery to symptom free for over 10 years! However, now being 42, I need to reintroduce myself fo this style of diet for a different reason. To lose the last 10 pounds I have put on since having children and to ensure a long and healthy life for myself.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Go buy yourself a Club and Let's Eat! I was very disappointed in this book. It is absolutely silly. The diet has no value unless you are a caveman. Somehow evolution of mankind has been forgotten.
