When I read this book, I realized that my life was a dream compared to hers! The book touched my heart and made tears trickle down my cheeks a little. The book was just...just so loving, you couldn't possibly turn it down.

Parvana's Journey is one of those books that allows you to reflect to what reality is now. Parvana is a afghan girl who just lost her father from a bombing on their village. She knows she has more family than just her father, so she goes on a journey to find her mother and her siblings. In another bombed village she hears the sound of a baby, she takes the baby along with her on her journey. She meets other children that have suffered just the same as any child in afghanistan and they accompany her on her journey. This book has been a major page turner and I recommend it to younger people and adults. It shows that there is a sign of hope everywhere, even in places as horrible as Afghanistan.

Parvanna was a very strong character. I cannot believe the things that the children of Afganistan have to endure.

    Parvana's Journey

    Andrew Parkdale

    Hello, there!
I am Andrew, and I have recently read Parvana's Journey. The Word choice is very basic, yet challenging to properly pronounce the afghan language words which appear frequently. This book is probably for people from 9-10 years of age.
Parvana'sJourney was a book that was about a child (Parvana) who lost her father. She goes for a journey to...(I am not tellin' ya, read for your self!) and finds herself meeting a rude little boy, wich turns good. Also, she inds a baby and meets another who shares her living quarters on a minefield with them. They have to survive in this decelent land in order to reach their gold. The story is good OVERALL. i RATE IT 3 1/2

Andrew, do you think the content is appropriate for 9-10 year olds. I'm wondering if it would be too upsetting. The story is very realistic and graphic.

Although it was very sad, I thought this was a good book too. I knew things were bad in Afhanistan, but this author painted a vivid picture of what is happening.

Parvana’s Journey was a good book. I thought it was funny how Asif would always go with Parvana just to bug her. I think Asif does actually like Parvana, but he just tries to hide it from everyone. I also liked how in the book they would keep on picking up characters in Parvana’s Journey. My favorite character is Asif because he has some humor and he is really stubborn some times and I can be stubborn. I would recommend this book to anyone.

"The breadwinner, Parvana's Journey and Mud City" are the best series of books I've ever read. These books are sad hurtful but amazing. It is unbelieveable how these poor children live through such tradgety. I'm only 11 years old and I really feel sorry for these children who go through pain like this.

Sadder, but funnier. Asif is hillarious! Parvana's also stronger, if that's possible.

This book by Deb Ellis is truly one of best in today's children's literature. Children and adults will learn the truth about the harshness and the struggles of the women and children of Afghanistan. The story comes alive and makes you feel that you are indeed an integral part of Parvana's life and of her search. As a retired teacher of young children, as a presenter on the situation of Afghan women and children and as a fundraiser for Afghan Women, I can tell you that this story tells it all. Of all the internet research that I have done, Deb Ellis artistically weaves so many factual truths into a rich tapestry of reality such that one need not search the internet. It is all there. A very readable and heart wrenching story.
