    It was o.k.

This is a different look at vampires. Vampires are called peeps (short for parasite-positives), as they are infected by a parasite, which is what turns them into a peep. It is usually transmitted sexually. Cal was 19 when a girl he met at a bar infected him. However, he has some kind of immunity, so he isn't crazy like most peeps, which means he is helping the Night Council hunt and get rid of them. He starts by hunting for the girl who infected him, Morgan. While looking for Morgan, he meets Lace, who tries to help him find her.

It was o.k. I didn't like this one as much as his Uglies series. Definitely a different take on vampires. I did find the extra info about various parasites kind of interesting, and I appreciated the afterword, which explained that all the parasites he talked about in the book are real. I did like the interaction between Lace and Cal. But, the book just wasn't that exciting for me. I didn't realize until after I'd started reading it that there is a sequel. I'm not sure if I'll read it or not.

    A bit rough

A unique take on vampires, this book will hook you with its wit, great style, and well-researched information. It certainly had me devouring the first few chapters... until it kinda falls apart at the end.

Yes, it's exciting, to say the least. It's full of suspense, and the information on different parasites was fascinating. But the way it ended was a bit... baffling. The way the people in the book reacted to the situation at the end made me pause. Let's just put it this way - I expected a lot more resistance and upset people.

Still, it's a good read. A bit rushed at the ending, but it you're looking for a different sort of vampire story, this is for you.

If found Peeps to be a really fun and fresh take on the whole Vampire genre. I t was a refreshing look at how vampires are made. Instead of being created by a "love bite" vampires or peeps are created by parasties. I really liked Cal the narrator. I thought he was funny and really sweet. I loved his relationship with Lace. A great new read!

This book was great from beginning to end. It was so unique with its take on vampires...it was just great! Scott westerfield, the author, is the funniest author i have ever read its crazy how funny he is. Almost everything out of his mouth - scratch that - pen made me laugh. I can't wait for the, in his words (or at least close to his) "the not-quite-a-sequel sequel". Really, if your into fantasy and vampires, but don't mind the occassional humur or off-hand sarcasm, you will LOVE this novel!
