I first started reading the series when the movie was coming out, and because I am interested in Greek mythology. This series is great for young readers and for people who are interested in this kind of stuff. I read all the books one after the other and can't wait for the new ones to come out.

I'm not much of a reader but this book just changed that i loved it it is very interesting

Ok, so the book has the movie beaten hands down, in my humble opinion. But it's what made me get interested in the books in the first place. I'm not one to like books that have been turned into a movie, as the movie usually ruins it for me, but in this case I highly recommend it. You become attatched to Percy Jackson, and his friends as they go through their trials and tribulations, and you feel a little sorry for this poor guy who is thrust into a scary world of weird looking mythical creatures and egotistical gods, after being accused of taking an item he had no idea actually existed the day before, let alone who he REALLY was. Also, having to learn how to defend himself, when all he was worrying about the day before was his Latin exam. And how to get his Mum away from his repulsive stepdad. This book was well written, the descriptions enabling you to easily visualize the characters surroundings and understand how they relate to one another and their weaknesses and strengths, all intertwined to create a story that flows together, and leaves you wanting more.

Wow. This book was outstanding. I read it before i saw the movie and this is probably one of my favourites! It constantly kept me on the edge of my seat. It was rare having a boring part in the book. It's always suspenseful. I just loved this series. And the movie was quite compatible to the book.

I saw the trailer and I was excited and i instantly wanted to see it.However, now that i've read the book i'm not sure anymore there are so many differences including the characters being 12 in the books and 17 in the movie. I don't know if i still want to see it =[
