Just when these 2 finally have at it, Dmitri is told to stay away. After his run in with the Daemon he is unstable and is striped of his Alpha status. He is mated with a pack member, which drives Luna mad :) The romance part seemed a bit flat to me...I like suspense, and you could just tell they would be back together....all in all though I couldn't put it down...I am off to get the next book

Pure Blood is the second book in the Nocturne City series and it is just as good as the first. It's been three months since the events of Night Life. Just coming off extended medical leave, Luna is relieved to be back on the job, for the most part anyway. Things aren't going to be easy though. The newspapers have outed her as a werewolf, she has a new female boss who already seems to have a chip on her shoulder when it comes to Luna, and even worse, she has a new partner who could pass for a Barbie doll. When a routine investigation into an apparent overdose leads to an intergenerational family feud between two powerful witch families (and factions), it's up to Luna to difuse the situation before the city blows like a powder keg.

The plot in this book is as strong as it is in the first. In fact there were a couple of twists that I didn't see coming. I also liked the addition of Shelby as Luna's new partner. While Shelby's behavior sometimes made me wonder how she could have become a cop, she was a good foil for Luna in many ways. Sexy Dmitri is also back and I love his character. He is so different from your usual alpha were, less refined and more rough around the edges. Luna also continues to be a great character. She's a bit abrasive but gets the job done, no matter what. There were a couple of TSTL moments when I wondered what the heck she was thinking, but I guess no one is perfect. I can't wait to start on the next installment.

Luna is still a detective, but maybe not for long. She just has a way of rubbing people the wrong way. When you are a were that happens. Just back from medical leave Luna has been assigned a partner, Shelby, and they really don't get along. Luna's latest case is to find out why powerful witches are turning up dead. She also needs to fix her relationship with Dmitri. The were elders forbid them to have contact after what happened when Dmitri was bitten during her last investigation. Dmitri has also a new mate. Luna already feels that she does not fit in with a pack or the police dept., and feels the sting of rejection tremendously. Luna needs Dmitri and Sunny's help to find out about the witches deaths, and soon enough it is her life on the line too. That tends to happen when you keep poking your nose in someone else's business.

I liked this second book in the series. It is still darker than most series. I would like to see Luna not get beat up so much. I know that her were fast healing abilities help her recover faster, but it happens every time she leaves the house. Maybe as a detective she should spend more time on fighting skills. Overall the series is really starting to pick up.

Caitlin Kittredge has done it once again with heroine Detective Luna Wilder. In this installment, Luna is back at work after taking time off to heal. With a her new boss Captain Matilda Morgan, yes Captain Morgan, how can it not be a hit.

Well, her new Captain isn't Luna's biggest fan, some things never change for our plucky heroine, and saddles her with a partner, something she has never had since turning detective. Luna has a reputation for being a loose cannon, and none of the humans on the force are all that gung-ho to work with a werewolf.

Her new partner is a transfer from vice, but she is a member of Nocturne City's pre-eminent family of witches and bankers, and more than a little fluffy. Luna has her doubts about of the partnership, but has no choice, and she seems like a good inside track for information when members of rival witch groups start turning up . Shelby, Luna's new partner is part of Nocturne City's most powerful family of Caster Witches (witches that cast circles and use nature to make their brand of magic), but did not inherit the power herself, much like Luna, making them both outcasts. When the rival Blood Witches (witches who use blood and practice the blacker arts to do their magic) blame Caster witches for the death of one of their number, an all out war seems imminent.

Can Luna and Shelby put aside their differences and get to the bottom of the mess causing all this? Will Shelby side with her family or the law? I'll never tell you will just have to read this series to find out.

This is one series that has it all, action, adventure, demons, witches, werewolves, BDSM, lust and love. The only criticism I have would be it was too short and it had a bit too much violence and gore for my taste.

If you are a fan of Jim Butcher and his Harry Dresden chronicles, or are a fan of Patricia Briggs', Mercy Thompson books you will enjoy these as well.

I found that I enjoyed this book much more than the first in the series. The characters are more fully developed in this book and the plot was really good too. I recommend this to any one who is looking for a new series to start =)

I picked this one up solely on the grounds that I'd read the first one and was curious to see what would happen in this novel. I found that I enjoyed this one far more then the first. Luna was far less bitchy then she had been in Night Life and I found myself liking her much more in this novel then I had in the first. But...how much can you like a character with the same name as a dog you once owned?
Either way, I like the spin this novel took and was intrigued to the end. I couldn't put it down until I was finished and can't wait for the third. A welcome improvement from the first.
