      helpful to you?

Besides the plotting and the pithy progress (very short chapters) I loved the characters: major and minor. Mr. Ryan pays attention to details and makes his people come alive. Leona and Ernesto gripped my emotions even as Marv and Les made me wonder what kind of a world this is with such people in it.

I want to read more of detective Lane and his partner(s). They seem to be humane truth-seekers and I look forward to the next crime they will have to unravel without destroying the souls of the innocent. Not an easy mission... but I feel Mr. Ryan is up to it.
